Its not 'a problem' fro Brighton, or Brentford, or Fulham, or Aston Villa etc etc. Like I pointed out Leicester City have gotten themselves into the 'wealthiest' the club has EVER been, bad management has been their issue, not money.
They should introduce relegation play offs Bottom 2 go down. Next 2 play off to see who gets relegated. They can play the game at the worst ground in the league below.
You don't understand the issue. That's ok but maybe take the time to educate yourself instead of listening to Talksport and reading the Sun. Just keep using ChatGPT for your responses.
Those play offs were between divisions. I mean. Who wouldn't want to see Leicester v Everton at Blackpool this weekend ? Think of the TV rights.
I...oh, my goodness, I can't believe it. I was trying to respond to the Carlisle and Luton examples with something besides "Oh my GOD who gives a crap," but you know what? I haven't found a single game in any American sport where anybody ever celebrated. Players, fans, coaches - it's all been meaningless. Hundreds of years, hundreds of thousands of games, billions of fans and spectators. The Cal-Stanford Play, the Dwight Clark catch, the Music City Miracle, the Homer in the Gloamin', Kirk Gibson's homer off Eckersley - no reaction whatsoever. Not during. Not after. Just row after row of sad, bored faces, longing for something, anything to feel. Well, there was the guy at Yankee Stadium who said "Gee, that's a shame" after Lou Gehrig's farewell speech. Other than that? Zip. So, you've convinced me, congrats
Celebrating Thatcher's death would be equivalent to celebrating another team's relegation so the original comment made no sense anyway.
To be honest with you you haven't actually given me anything to refute what I've said, honestly I don't think you would find one Luton Town supporter that didn't want promotion. There really isn't an issue, the only people you see complaining tend to be the relegated clubs. Brighton were bottom of League 2 with the finances of a club bottom of League 2 yet they are now a club playing in European competition making more money than they've ever made in their history, if Brighton can do it there is no reason why Wrexham can't................of course its not easy, there are a LOT of clubs trying to do it, Leicester don't have the excuse of 'lack of funds' for their relegation.
Why are you bringing Luton and Wrexham into this? Nobody said anything about Luton fans not wanting promotion. You can't read or understand what people are saying. Just repeat your talking point in multiple ways. No one has ever said that Leicester have a lack of funds. What I have said is they had FFP issues which has impacted them. There's a lot of reasons for the fall off but you just screaming about money is a bit weird . You seem obsessed with it Quite a difference. But just rewrite your last 10 posts.
It's a shame that American fans don't show passion like the Arminia Bielefeld ones ( am I doing this right ?)
Article about Union Berlin's rise from the third level to CL qualification, with a couple of relegations thrown in the middle: https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bunde...-german-also-rans-to-bundesliga-leaders-21264
This is pretty freaking rich considering there is still pro/rel. Nobody says that a prem club is a charitable organization (I think that's exactly what they should be but that's a different argument) but compared to MLS they are the salvation army just by virtue of having pro/rel. Flip the "Cartel Switch" okay, so that's as stupid as someone claiming that MLS came into San Diego to stop the Loyal (which they didn't but that isn't stopping some from claiming this.) And I am the one being called a conspiracy theorist. Leciester were not relegated due to lack of money. They had the 7th largest wage bill this season. They went down because of hubris thinking they were to big to go down and because they trusted Brendan Rodgers, something you shouldn't do. I for one am happy but that has more to do with their fans than anything else. Leicester's last three seasons 5th,5th,8th. In 20' and 21' they finished ahead of Arsenal and Spurs. They have finished in the top half 5 of the last 7 seasons so how is this rule change created by the "Cartel" hurting them? Now we can argue about the pro/cons of the rule change. According to reports the club I support was one of the main pushes for the rule change. But it's weird that changing the payment structure to reward clubs who do best on the field is considered the action of a cartel, while a system where the decision of who gets any revenue is determined by the already existing clubs based on who can make them the most money is not? Okay... And for the record I never call MLS a cartel.
Yep and actually the pro/rel syste I am advocating for the US does that as well. But there is a difference between closing the door after the 90 something team and how MLS was structured. If MLS had 40 teams with two divisions and a transparent system for expansion I'd be broadly happy. Also that's how they did it for 99 years but changed what 40 years ago? Anyone asking to go back?
I don't know what the actual vote was on the foreign tv money change, but at least 14 of the 20 teams would have had to "flip the cartel switch". I do think the change was a large mistake, btw.
Anyone seen what Liga MX final viewership numbers were here in the US? Compare them to any Pro/Rel game play offs lol. Liga MX has no Pro/Rel yet is the most popular league here in the US. You all can say "but..but..they are bringing it back" and you all will be wrong. No one really cares about Pro/Rel other than a few loud people. Not taking any credit away from you guys. You all can keep on wishing for Pro/Rel while wishing MLS fails but facts say Pro/Rel isn't needed for popularity as we see with our other domestic sports leagues and Liga MX.
And, of course, for many years before pro/rel was suspended, Liga MX really had pro/rel in name only, and that didn't hurt its popularity.
Yep! There were occasions that the team that would win promotion would get sold to the team that got relegated and the relegated team would stay on top. Or the promoted team would get sold and relocated to another city. Yet Liga MX didn't miss one beat in popularity. Fans would be upset but as soon as the season started everyone forgot and continued watching.
what needs for popularity is football on the field and that sucks in mls so next thing is pro/rel so it can mask that uninteresting football basically putting lipstic on the pig. that is american saying. like it or not mls is fat chick of football world that needs that lipstick to make it little bit more attractive
Fact is you don't need Pro/Rel to be the most popular league in the US. Liga MX isn't close to quality when compared to EPL, La Liga or Bundesliga and it doesn't need "pro/rel so it can mask that uninteresting football basically putting lipstic on the pig". Care to explain why Liga MX, a league without Pro/Rel and not that great quality when compared to EPL, is so popular in the US?
So you're trying to make some kind of point by comparing the Liga MX final US TV figures and promotion playoff TV figures that by definition are at level 2 (or lower)?
I was comparing a final to a "final" that decides if you stay in the top division or not. But you are welcome to compare it to any game you like, see fit or fits your agenda.
