Crocodile Rock not far behind. In other dinosaur news, Billy Joel's run at MSG is coming to an end. So if you didn't see him in the last 50 years, you've been forewarned.
All the distinguished music critics think he's great. That makes me wonder why they're so distinguished.
I have blasted that part on multiple HBCU campuses to great approval. Bennie And The Jets is one of the songs of my people, despite not being written by any of my people
Do they really like his theme songs, or more his early albums? Some of that stuff is good, though I agree he’s pretty overrated.
Not at all, as far as I know. Someone probably was- it was undergrad school Elton made it all the way to Soul Train with this song. You do know that, right? It's a horrible song from a horrible era of his. He went to shit in the late 70s after cranking out some really memorable hits in the early 70s. If you didn't dig him in 1974 or so, you were not there, or you were missing out trying to be cool. Then he got back writing with the guy whose lyrics were on his early hits (Bernie Taupin) and he had one more cool song called In Neon.
I remember Peter was quoted as saying: "We're not a newspaper. If you want a newspaper, go listen to The Clash".
Nope, I didn’t know Soul Train allowed music that limp. I always thought it would be a good fit for Sesame Street though, with muppets singing along.
