First time this season for the Quakes to win away from the Bay Area. With Dallas' loss, the team moves into 4th place in the Western Conference.
And in the stats do lie department, according to the MLS website Seattle, who was shutout, had a greater xG number than Vancouver, who scored 6 goals. Seattle's xG was 3.0, while Vancouver's was 2.3.
Stupid me! Dallas still on top of San Jose in the West by a point. I thought the Quakes were behind FCD by a point heading into last night's MLS Midweek Madness!
Did they lie? Or is this just Exhibits A and B on one team finishing like trash while the other finished beautifully? Seattle (read: Ruidiaz) missed some of the most gilt-edged chances you will see.
The names I'm seeing in the line-ups and scoring for "The Soccer Tournament" are wild. I mean just look at this game: TST: The Soccer Tournament (tst-stats.com) Almost every team I look at and laugh at a player I forgot about. Like the West Ham/Dallas game where I believe Kenny Cooper was on the same field as Luis Boa Morte and Anton Ferdinand.
On now, team Sneaky Fox FC. LOTS of MLS connections with Sneaky Fox FC as its run by Mike Magee. Unfortunately they have Lenhart. But they have some likeable players too. https://thetournament.com/tst/teams/sneaky-fox/
Nick Perera of MISL and USMNT Beach Soccer fame is bossing this Target Score time for Sneaky Fox FC but no goal just yet to end the game.

Idle teams in MLS for this weekend: Los Angeles Galaxy, Atlanta United, Los Angeles FC. The Galaxy were supposed to be the only team with a bye this weekend, but since LAFC is playing Sunday in the CCL final, their match has to be re-scheduled with Atlanta. This will create a lot of fixture congestion for LAFC down the second half of the season. Seattle, leaders in the West, will have played 17 matches after Sunday, versus 12 for LAFC, but the black and old gold team only trail the Sounders by 1 point in the standings. St. Louis too will have 3 games in hand on the Sounders. STL also trail Seattle by 1 point in the Western Conference. St. Louis had Wednesday's match at LAFC moved to July 12th due to LAFC's CCL obligations. St. Louis will also complete its suspended match from last month at FC Dallas which will resume next Wednesday in the 50th minute. Both teams were locked in a 0-0 game at the time Mother Nature halted play in Frisco.
LAFC's schedule will be brutal after the CCL: June 8 - vs Atlanta June 11 - at Houston June 15 - vs Houston June 18 - at KC June 22 - vs Seattle June 25 - vs Vancouver They then get a full week off before: July 2 - at Dallas July 5 - at LA Galaxy July 9 - vs San Jose July 13 - vs St Louis July 16 - at Minnesota That's 11 games in 38 days, but only 4 games not played in LA.
With the USOC I feel like a number of teams have been playing that kind of schedule over the last 5-6 weeks. I know the Rapids have played every midweek/weekend save one since April 22nd.
For a short tournament I see no issue with talking about it in these threads for a weekend. Very minimal posts during downtime from regular season games so far. They involve teams with former MLS players heavily involved. Considering the heavy MLS ties I don't really see another thread that is as fitting. It will be over this weekend and chances are you would only see a handful of posts which you can just scroll by if it doesn't interest you.
Ahem....behold: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/other-leagues-tournaments-catch-all-thread.2119150/ As it turns out there already is a perfectly good spot for NON-MLS pbp in the MLS N&A board......
The problem is, I’m being attracted to the thread by new posts on things that are off topic. Not things that are happening concurrently or have any bearing on this weekends games. Thx, Jay!
OH NOOOO 5 posts regarding an event involving MLS legends and lifers spanning two days when there wasn't anything else going on. It's such a big problem...
