Interesting that dc is an epl hotbed, but dc United was one of the first MLS teams to try for a Latin America style supporters culture.

Though they're now clearly trying to get the epl fans with Wayne Rooney.

Matchday 17: What to know, how to watch on MLS Season Pass | MLSSoccer.com

Every game is free this week. MLS and Apple are absolutely working hard to be sure that viewers can see games and hopefully will subscribe down the road.

I think it is abundantly clear that the Apple deal is way better than MLS's last deal was.

    1. For those who didn't get MLS Season Pass, those folks have a few games every week they can watch and then they have these weekends when all games are available. No need to have an expensive cable package to get access to ESPN/FS1 or the local sports channel. Free!
    2. MLS Season Pass picture quality is top notch.
    3. Based on what MLB is looking to charge Padres’ fans ($20/month or $75/ for the rest of the season), MLS Season Pass seems like a bargain when you can see the whole league for less than that ($15/month or $99/season, less with discounts or freebies)

Messi to MLS sounding more and more like a done deal.

Do we know why he's more interested in coming to MLS than heading to Saudi and making ungodly money?

Because he is already rich and MLS lets him live in Miami, where he already has a home and still would make lots of money? Maybe because he could get equity in MLS, a part of Inter Miami, or rights to an expansion team at a discount? With new teams being worth at least $500mil, getting one at a discount could be enticing.

Some posters continue to believe Twitter means anything

(Specific to this point, Apple has never released number on Ted Lasso, a show seen as wildly successful for them. So the idea that not releasing numbers for Season Pass means they must be horrible doesn't pass the smell test. But then that describes a majority of Twitter.)

I would imagine the culture shock for his family would be a factor. They already have a house in Miami and the city is very bilingual not to mention closer to Argentina. I'm not positive but I would think his endorsement revenue post career has more potential playing in the US.... Although I'm just guessing.
    .
That being said I don't think be comes because the rumored deal makes little sense. Going out on loan for a reported 18 months takes up a DP spot and CAP space. Why would they help Barcelona if they can't sign him and the city is favored over Saudi Arabia? Four years and 250 million plus incentives should be their final offer as it would be record breaking and set him up for Copa, World Cup and the opening of a new stadium. Otherwise he's a 36 year old player and the bump he could give the League would be minimal.

The loan makes 0 sense. Sounds like some BS coming from the Camp Nou, so they can blame someone else when he ends up not coming back. Who knows maybe they have heard he is coming and are trying to play their last emotional cards on Messi's camp. Imagine the gall to ask a team to pay you $50M a year to play for another team! I don't think anyone could seriously ask Miami to do that with a straight face.

I don't think Messi would go out on loan to Barcelona if he decides to come to Miami. That rumor just doesn't make any sense. I just don't see how Miami comes out benefited from that deal.

Apple has released Ted Lasso numbers and they've been in the top 10 on Nielsen streaming ratings each time a new season has come out.

For example, the most recent numbers were for May 1-7 and Ted Lasso rated 8th overall and 4th for original programming on streaming with 715 million minutes watched.

I read that only 5.7% of households in the UK have Apple TV which is probably why no-one there has heard of Ted Lasso.

That's not good news for MLS.

I don't believe that's from Apple but a third party that is guesstimating. This article was from season 2 but kind of makes the point.

Nielsen doesn't use Parrot Analytics. They've been getting the various streaming services on board one at a time, with Netflix finally joining last November, as part of their effort to integrate streaming and traditional TV into one report starting sometime next year.

Nielsen has released numbers, I don't believe Apple ever has. And I think I read somewhere that Nielsen doesn't yet track live sports on streaming, so they wouldn't have any equivalent numbers for Season Pass.

Correct on the sports. That's something that's supposedly in the works for Nielsen One that supposed to be their new system starting sometime next year.

Question that has probably already been asked and answered, but this is the 88 page of this thread, so I will ask again.

Are you all having issues watching MLS at bars?

I know 2 soccer bars that show MLS, but they show all kinds of soccer.

But some other bars that show sports don't show have it (2 others that I have asked).

    I am in Chicago.
