Some clean touches, but nothing of note so far, really. Announcer came prepared with his Bello research, at least.
Bello helps run the counter, sets up a cross for Kruger from the left wing - played out for a corner but ref missed the call.
Full time. Wasn't too impressed with his defensive positioning, but did well the one time he really got to play an active role in the attack. Decent enough debut.
Man, there are too many guys to follow in Europe these days. LOL I didn’t even realize Bello was in the BL
I’ve been watching since George came on. He had a nice overlapping run and cross which was headed wide in the ‘67 or so. He’s playing LB/LWB. Can’t tell if AB is playing four or five in the back.
It was 30 minutes of AB pouring forward and not being particularly dangerous and Hoffenheim having several great counter attacking opportunities but flubbing them. bello had two crosses I noticed. One nice and one not. He tried to take on a player in the attacking third, was stripped, a counter ensued and he got back near his own 18 and made a tackle. On one occasion he was defending a cross and was nutmegged by a low cross which came to nothing. I thought he didn’t look out of place at the BL level. Looking forward to following his development more.
Bello on in the '75 trailing 1-0 to Augsburg They are looking for a goal and Bello is fairly advanced
He's looked impressive. His touches and the weight of his passes have been quite good. He's made good decisions. Also his speed looks good for the BL level. '87 now.
Bello was serving in the last few corners at the end there... services weren't very good... basically were lowish and died at the front of the 6
Bello came on at the half against Karlsruhe. They equalized in the 52nd minute ... then conceded again in the 54th. Bello not involved in either play. Match is on ESPN+, but apparently with no commentary.
83rd minute Bello puts in a good cross that finds a teammate for an audacious flying backheel attempt that is saved.
Bellofeld lose again, and whistled off the field, again. Bello was average in the context of this last place squad - I didn't get bothered by his defense until extremely late / tired / too far upfield because they were desperate. In the attack, a couple of good crosses, and a little too much sprinting upfield while crowding the guy with the ball - gotta make those runs with some space.
Bello subs on, and immediately the Arminia Bielefeld fans appear to be rioting in their cage requiring referee, security, and captain intervention. Stuff thrown on the field. They trail 3-0 in the first leg of this relegation playoff. Bello at the left wingback spot, trying to play very high in the attack. Might have switched to a 3 man back when he came on.
And as Bielefeld press high looking to pull one back, the keeper throws catches a cross and throws long, beating the whole defense, and then the striker makes a cut that causes the only defender chasing and the keeper to run into one another and fall down. And more insanity from the Bielefeld fans, match may be being called?
Firecracker noises and craziness. Wehen Wiesbaden players leaving. German announcement makes it sound like we're not playing any more today. Bello one of the only players still on the field.
Well Bello might have had 5-7 minutes of actual playing time inbetween fan fiascoes. Didn't see him touch the ball, got a little lucky that his man didn't get a rebound off the post when Bello had lost track of him. In the stadium, fans are all staying as if this might restart. Captain Fabian Klos begging everyone he can find to get this thing calmed down so play can resume.
Bello makes a dribbling run up the left wing, drawing a double team and backpassing. Play leads to a pretty good volley from outside the box on frame.
Final whistle blows for 4-0, and all I really know is that this was a mess, the return leg will probably be a mess if it even happens, and Bello has to be done at this club.
Looks like Bello is at LWB trailing 0-4 on aggregate. Expect him to push extremely high while they chase a miracle.
