It’s not about picking a B team though. They sometimes want to look at options that haven’t been in the set up before and they haven’t had the chance to see train etc. Or those who have been squad options too often. U18’s and U20’s is usually a good time to do this.

By saying ‘very experimental’ I didn’t mean drop every player anyway lol.

It will be interesting to see what they do. With how challenging under 19 Euro qualification is and this squad being the age group who will be the u19’s foe the autumn and March qualification matches it will be good to get players in a winning way.

He is too old for the next year. He will either be in the under 20’s doing friendlies or with the under 21’s.

Imagine If the Under 20’s had won against Italy last night. Would Jebbison have been on a provisional list for one country while still actually being at a tournament for another,

It's highly unlikely that Jebbison will ever play for England seniors. Hopefully he'll stay with us for the next u21 cycle but would likely be on the bench mostly again. With him being Canadian born it does seem that he'll probably switch to them at some point.

I'd say the under 21 main striker role, if we even play with one is very much up for grabs, though Jebbison is clearly currently 4th choice for the under 20's. Still it would take very little you would think to jump ahead of Scarlett, Delap, and Joseph currently. There's very little to choose between them right now.

Whoever gets off to the best start next season will presumably get it. I imagine all of them will end up on loan so its a matter of who gets on loan earliest, and finding the right fit.

There are Leeds fans on Twitter who want Joseph to stay with them and play in the championship.
Ditto some Sheffield United fans think Jebbison will stay with Sheffield United and have a bench role in the PL.

By the time the 2025 euros comes around I have a feeling Divin Mubama might be in contention for a call up.

I’ve high hopes Jimmy Jay Morgan is established by 2025, him and Ballard look natural goal scorers - let’s hope they get games next year.

It appears O’Donkor’s exploits haven’t gone unnoticed at international level too, as the Oxford Mail understands he was on the standby list for the England Under-19 squad last month.

O’Donkor, who would be eligible to represent either England or Ghana, admitted there has been international recognition but wasn’t able to disclose full details.

He said: “I don’t really look at a lot of things like that because I try to focus on the games that are coming up.

“I see that kind of stuff and the England squads coming out but I try to focus on the games we have coming up.

“I haven’t really spoken to Ghana but there have been other talks going on so we’ll just see what happens.”

Manchester born Lewis Fiorini of Man City and Taunton born Tommy Conway of Bristol City are with the Scottish seniors squad as a non playing training members. Conway scored 12 goals in 37 matches last season for Bristol City last season.

Florini made one appearance for England at u15 level. Conway qualifies for Scotland through a single grandparent. I think in the latters case it was Scotland asking him first as he's only really come on the radar this season.

Interestingly it seems Hudson - Odoi, Frimpong and Fosu - Mensah are all on holiday together in the Caribbean. I wonder if all three will defect to Ghana soon as none are fully capped tied by England and the Netherlands under current rules.

Tom Cannon not in the Ireland u21s today or last weeks senior squad.

Any of the mouth breathing gammonistas who blight this place shed any light ? Surprised it hasn't cropped up & caused a bit of giddiness already

The plenitude of good posters on here welcome to comment also, naturally.

No idea. He’s not exactly at the level of talent to get giddy about. Maybe after his decent loan at PNE he fancies himself to play for England. We could use the bodies for the next u21 Euros group. Or maybe he’s just injured or wants a holiday.

He apparently had tonsiltiis and lack of match fitness. All a bit odd.

The time line is, Ireland call a training camp for fringe guys, he's called up but has tonsillitis. Ireland name WC qualifier squad, he's on standby but is mentioned re the 21s. 21s named today & he's now injured.

    An opinion.

Fact is he handed Liam Delap his ass at Preston, in general play and particularly goals scored. Take a look & inform yourself maybe. Delap is England underage & Cannon just outclassed him on his first loan. Delap is on loan two & struggling.

Delap has been a major disappointment in his first season in senior football. Cannon has done OK in front of goal but a lot of his stats are dreadful. At least so far he doesn’t look like a player England should be sweating on but we’d welcome him into the u21 pool for the next Euros cycle.

If you know this why are you posting here?

We don’t sweat on Tom Cannon because he’s also a player whose current predicament makes him very hard to keep or bring into our set up. If he gets a call up then great but there’s not much we can do if he’s already on the cusp of Ireland’s seniors.

He’s got to really want to play for us and would have to work very hard even to get an U21 call up. He would pretty much have to declare for us now with not even the guarantee of an U21 call up. Or take an international hiatus like Liam Kelly to try and get eventual England recognition.

Somewhat unfairly players already in our youth set up will take precedence when picking next seasons U21 squads. So he would have to force himself in. Plenty of players have been doing very well in the Championship but having not been involved in England’s younger age groups they can get completely ignored. Jarrod Bowen is probably the best example of this.

So, he could go back to the Championship and put up decent numbers and still not get anywhere.

Just informing the discussion, he's dual eligible & has been mentioned here before also. Now he's a slightly flaky no show for Ireland. On topic I'd have thought ? I wasn't seeking this information here. The feeling is the FA have involved themselves. Came on here to see if anyone knew more but clearly not.

That explain it simply enough for you ?

The lad is English, its a grandparents link.
Easy enough situation to manage surely & he looks a possible bolter at club level.

Tammy Abraham scored 52 goals in his two Championship loans and last season he scored 27 for Roma while they won their first ever Euopean title and he still struggles for call ups to the England squad. Ivan Toney scored 32 goals in a Championship season and then 32 PL goals over two seasons before he won his solitary England cap where he played 9 minutes. It's a long way to go from Tom Cannon to the England senior squad, let alone to be a regular starter. There's lots of competition to beat along the way.

Cannon would really have to back himself to want to play for England from the position he's in currently. I hope he does as everyone wants a bigger talent pool to choose from and sometimes players like Cannon can become top players from seemingly nowhere, like Toney for example. On the balance of probabilities it is unlikely he'll be good enough however. With the way FIFA rules are now and how international football is going this profile of player tends to prefer the path of least resistance to senior international football.

Would he have to use his one time switch to start playing for England now? If not then he could have a shot at England and then go back to Ireland if it doesn't work out. If he has to use that switch then it's a big call. I'm sure the FA has approached him, as you expect them to do with all possible prospects of a decent level, it's basic due diligence. I'm still not convinced that there's much to be read into these current developments.
