To be fair, this is exactly what Hoff wanted when they brought Brooks in. This campaign was about staying up and they did that. Good on Brooks for getting up to speed after a rocky couple games getting back to fitness.

After beating FC Waldorf-Astoria 3-1, Brooks and the Hoff lost to Elversberg 2-1. Brooks came out as part of a multi-player sub rotation at the half when it was 1-1.

    JAB doing JAB stuff:

TSG Hoffenheim made an imposing start and already got into a dangerous position in front of the opposition goal in the first minute, but the cross from Marius Bülter, who had been picked out by John Anthony Brooks' lofted ball, was cleared by the Feyenoord defence as Ihlas Bebou waited to pounce.

    Cup match?

I’m tracking it was a club friendly vs Rangers that ended 2 - 2.

My mistake. Calling it the season "opening" had me looking in the wrong place.

Brooks not involved in the 1st Gers PK goal, and obvs not the second as he was on the bench. Dunno if he had any offensive contribution.

Brooks gets the starts in the Pokal against third tier Lubeck. 1-1 at the half. Brooks didn't look involved in either goal from the highlights, with Kramaric's goal for Hoffenheim a lot of fun - three cutbacks before shooting.

3-1 now - Bulter gets the goal that probably puts it away, in his first competitive match for the club.

Did you actually watch the match? What about it was not a good showing? He had a Sofascore of 6.8 for his 53 minutes of work.

JAB won his headers and made his usual line breaking distribution. MP made a tactical switch to a 2CB system in rainy conditions with Hoffenheim looking sluggish on offense and down 0-1 on a free kick goal. Ironic that 4 minutes later Heidenheim scored on a header off a corner. They scored from the center of the box in exactly the spot that Brooks was owning!

Hoffenheim came bac to win 3-2 so MP's offensive scheme change paid off.

They changed up to 4 in the back around 52’ which isn’t a great fit for Brooks. Hoffenheim came back to win 3-2 denying Heidenheim from their first ever Bundesliga win/point.

Yes, he did well and was taken off because he was looking tired.
