I thought they would start sean coming into this game. He's played back there in two games. Charlotte is a different style, so I'm not sure this game will translate. Bring on King Harry and the Lion of Mesopotamia
lol you been drinking ? Quinton was the only true CB so once he left yeah we had 0.But Moreira in this system is much better fit at CB might be 5’10 but he is good.
Also doesn't suck. So there's that. They've been living on borrowed time with Quinton and the clock ran out last night.
Nagbe wasn’t as bad as Morris last night. Both were very poor. Though if Nagbe finished his chance idk if we’d be bitching as much about him.
Nah he wasn’t bad outside of that but he isn’t what he once was , he will be off DP but how much money is he worth and shouldn’t we be getting younger ?
On top of the fact that Zawadzki did get minutes. I watched him live when the Crew were in Toronto, he scored from one of JRR’s two assists that night.
Lalas Aboubacar got owned on two of our goals last night. Not terribly disappointed he is no longer here.
That's what I kept saying all during the second half: ZERO CENTER BACKS! I wanted them to put Ramirez in net and to Bring on Arfsten to get rid of the pesky keeper and add a tad more offensive punch.
He scores when he wants, He scores when he wants, Sean Zawadzki. He scores when he wants. Sean Zawadzki is likely the most efficient shooter in MLS history. #Crew96 https://t.co/YZkYEGobA2 pic.twitter.com/AmDK1lp26a— Eliot McKinley (@etmckinley) June 1, 2023
I think consensus is that some youngsters are doing just fine - i.e. Farsi. But one in particular is struggling a little bit - Quinton. And before we fall too far down the standings it may be time to give him a little break and play some with a little more experience. Speaking of, ya'll can thank me because I was screaming for them to pull Quinton and put Zawadski in during 1st half. It was the only potential solution I could come up with considering the injuries and lack of depth. I was pleasantly surprised they actually did it. It worked very well for all the reasons I thought it might. He is a much much better passer, a little more experience and still has decent size, strength, & speed. With him entering Moreira w the logical solution to slide into CB. He's savvy and also a good passer. But perhaps most importantly they both are much calmer/confident with the ball at their feet under pressure.
Particularly on the Zawadzki goal. He was in very good position but was so focused on yanking off Zawadzki's shirt - it was just this side of sexual assault - that he ignored the ball going past his head. Piss poor, especially because the hold was so blatant that, had the shot not gone in, even under a Penso it would have been a PK. Just stupid.
uh huh? Neither was bad. No one works harder on the field than Morris - PERIOD! And he is a destroyer winning tackles. He was his normal self for the most part. Even got in on a few attacks. Nagbe's eyes were so big when that cross floated to him. He scores that 9 out of 10 times. but he too was his normal self. He is so hard to dispossess. He changes pace and direction with ball at his feet better than anyone the US has ever produced. sure he has had a few bad passes in recent games but his overall contribution is significant and I'd challenge yo to find more than a handful of players in the league as good or better than him.
A little break with Crew 2 would be my plan. He just isn't ready for this level and frankly, based on his lack of speed, upper body strength and overall physicality he may never be. Either way you don't do him any favors tossing him in the deep end like this. Getting yanked at the half for basically coughing up two goals and otherwise stinking up the place is not how you build confidence.
