Well, that's the bare minimum acheived & a positive performance to end on. Will be interesting to see how the squad changes come the WC in November with players back from injury & others potentially emerging.
And some not being released. Will Lovelace and Gray be allowed to go. Gray could be getting minutes in the Championship next season.
Gray is a funny one. No subtlety to his game at all. Will be very interesting to see where he's at when his peers mature physically.
Why did Golding finish that match? Was hobbling about, down with cramp and looked really tired to me. We had the subs to change it I think this team has enough differing options in the squad to be able to control a game. Not expecting complete domination but we have enough composure there. More range in skill sets than some previous squads that have played better than this. We just make games too much of a lottery by playing too direct imo.The only thing Garry has lacked is that finisher because of Morgan’s injury. Not sure what to expect at the WC but it will be good experience.
Very good win to qualify, which I think is this group performing at par expectations. I doubt we'll change things much, but it will be nice to hopefully see Jimmy Jay-Morgan back with the side, our other centre forward options seem pretty limited. Likewise I'd really like to see Ndala with this group as from what i've seen he's a far superior wide option, but I assume its unlikely he will be available for whatever the reason he is playing with the 18's. Would be nice to see a more balanced midfield also, even keeping within this squad i'd prefer to see more minutes for Dyer and McAllister. Garry seems to favour physicality in the side quite heavily. I must say given the reputation I thought Nwaneri was a bit disappointing also. Didn't really look particularly notable as a talent, though I recognise he's playing a year up. We've not traditionally had much issues with that, I wouldn't expect it to be a major issue (the two you mentioned wouldn't hurt the squad much I think).
Looked pretty good as a right back to be fair. I thought he was MOTM even with him letting his man get in front of him for the first goal. He reminded me a bit of Livramento.
For a group that doesn't have a lot of noise around them - thought the last 2 performances were pretty good. France was an even game and they look a good side, and thought we were very good today Obviously the side has some issues, and doesn't feel as though best team known, but we look as good as any of the other U17 sides in this tournament and should be looking at the WC with real hope of going far. Think we just need to get balance right in midfield and play through thirds a bit better - but enough talent in attacking positions plus good defenders to be a decent tournament team
A lot depends on the draw as well. In this tournament we had to get through Croatia, Switzerland, Holland, France, Spain and probably Germany to win it. A draw doesn't get much harder than that.
I haven't seen him play too much and interested what you mean? My first thought seeing him today was that he was surprisingly defensively strong in a position I'm assuming isn't his natural one
Positive tournament overall, securing qualification for the world cup. Not sure why there weren’t more minutes for Dyer and Jemide, two top prospects in this group.
🚨 I gather #wba academy midfielder Jamal Jimoh is leaving for #avfc. Albion did have a pre-contract agreement in place with the player and his reps, but Villa have agreed a fee. 🤝Jimoh is an England U17 international. 🏴https://t.co/BlSISl5WE4— Joe Chapman (@ChapmanJ92) June 13, 2023

The odd thing is its going to be played in the monsoon season, so how that will play out is anyones guess. Expect a lot of extremely waterlogged pitches.
