The transfer fee won't be an issue for many clubs interested...His real value righ now is cheap at around 15M pound...20M pound in a bidding war. The problem will be the wages..Clubs outside England would not want him anywhere close to what he's under...That includes Juve and Napoli. I can even see a mid table EPL club being able to outbid Italian Clubs and put him in around the 90k-105k wages slot. ...not far off the 150k he's at Chelsea. If he cares about money, he'll probably stay in England. Maybe Fulham with 2 Yanks on their book...I could even see them bring in 1 of the 3 Yanks at Leeds.
All this talk of wage discrepancy got me curious so I started poking around on this site: https://www.capology.com/ Full disclosure, I have no idea if their numbers are accurate or not. I liked this website though, because it's easy to convert between currencies so you're comparing like to like across countries. You can also look at gross and net of taxes, though again I have no idea if they are doing that conversion correctly. I found the results interesting because Pulisic would currently rank 12th on the Juventus team for gross wages and he'd be tied for 10th on a net basis. But, on AC Milan he'd be the most expensive player by a large margin. I had no idea such a disparity existed between the two clubs. I haven't followed the trouble Juventus is currently in - is it somehow related to wages? With all that said, it does seem rather unlikely that AC Milan is the future home for CP, but I could certainly see Juventus biting especially if they sell some of the higher earners.
The problem with Juve is they have already taken hits for their financial shenanegans, and are people confident they won't get punished more for their finances. Maybe not but it's hardly a guarantee. He really needs to be smart with this move.
I thought they settled the outstanding issues this week by agreeing to a fine and waiving the right to appeal the 10 points.
There seems to be a lot of pretty quick movement of Chelsea players even before the transfer window opens. There are reports today of personal terms agreed for Kovacic to Manchester City and Mount to Manchester United. It also sounds like Loftus-Cheek to AC Milan is well underway, and reports are that Chelsea will not buy Felix or Zacaria. Per some USMNT fan accounts on twitter, Fabrizio Romano apparently said Pulisic's team is looking at clubs in Italy, but the Italy clubs supposedly move slowly and Pulisic wants to move quickly - in the next 2-3 weeks. I'm still hoping for Pulisic to stay in the EPL (mostly because I prefer watching it to the European leagues). Newcastle would be my top choice for him, with Fulham or West Ham as second tier choices. In the end, as long as he gets out of Chelsea and winds up somewhere he will get some decent playing time, I'll be happy.
I think the EPL may not be the right place for CP. Too many harsh fouls, too much tolerance of foul play generally. I think Spain or Italy would be good. But of course, there is the matter of CP's wages.
True, but do you really trust the team that was hiding "real" salaries, with most of those players still on the books, to have just stopped? I can't say I do. Maybe they are in the clear and it's all good, but I'm skeptical enough to want to give it a few more years.
If true, I am surprised nothing is already lined up for Ziyech, Auba, Odoi, and Pulisic. Clearly these players are definitely not in their future.
Agreed. Although the players on your list are probably not the first name on any team's list, so may take longer to move. I'm anxious to see if Pulisic ends up with any good options.
Mount is English so Man Utd may be looking to avoid a bidding war, so first in. Also, apparently their bid is well below Chelsea's valuation. City can pay whatever price they choose to pay, and maybe Kovacic plays a specific role they want to fill. RLC is probably a cut-price deal. For the rest of the 10-15 players Chelsea will likely ship out, other clubs have few reasons to bid early regardless of how much they want them. They have every reason to bid late. There will be a lot of smoke before we see any real fire for most players. Chelsea must sell; everyone knows that.
Not sure why people think Pulisic expects his next club to pay him CFC wages. Players wages shift fairly dramatically between club situations all the time.
I don't think anyone here knows what Pulisic expects in terms of wages. It's clear he's going to need to take lower wages if he wants more playing time though. I'd say there's a decent chance he's going to need to agree to a pay cut if he wants to move at all. I'm not sure any team that could afford his wages would have any interest in signing him.
There are lots of clubs that would pay him at least what he gets now. But would he want to play for any of those clubs? He may decide to take less at a more marquee club in order to maintain endorsement revenue. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
I doubt there will be any clubs willing to pay Pulisic what he currently makes based on his previous 3 years. Lack of Goal/Assist and too many injuries whenever he gets a run....whomever that may be would be bidding against themselves... His agent is the goat if he can manage to keep Pulisic current wages at his next club. Maybe if he goes back to MLS or wherever Ronaldo is playing in the middle east.
