Shouldn't be surprised, Levy still hired him after he was warned that this might happen. Levy was also surprised and impressed with Paratici's knowledge of football (incredible, no, that someone would have as much knowledge about football as Levy?).
Kane has made Opta's Stats Premier League Team of The Season, and the stats don't lie; From the BBC 'Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) Harry Kane began the season 25 goals behind Wayne Rooney in the Premier League scoring charts and three behind him in England's all-time scoring list and has toppled him in both lists. Kane's second 30-goal Premier League season has seen him score in 26 different games (a joint record with Andy Cole in 1993-94), become the first player to score 100 away goals (currently 112), break the record for headed goals in a season (10) and, for a second time, still not win the Golden Boot when scoring 30. All of this done in a Tottenham team that has finished eighth in the league, with this the lowest in a table a team has finished with a player scoring 30 goals since Ron Davies scored 37 in 1966-67 for Southampton. Kane's also done it without scoring a single hat-trick, a record for goals scored in a Premier League campaign without one. Kane had the most shots (130) and shots on target (63) in the Premier League this season, and only seven players created more chances in open play. Kane covered 395km in the Premier League this season, the most distance covered by a striker.' He also won all of the Tottenham 'Player of the Season' awards. I already miss him, and only wish he'd won something with us because damn it, he deserves to.
Well said. I'm struggling to think of any other player that could look at this season with pride. Bentancur before injury, perhaps.
Funny stat: Last season we scored 69 goals and Kane and Son combined for 40 goals (Son 23, Lane 17). This season we scored 69 goals and Kane and Son also combined for 40 goals )Kane 30, Son 10).
Think he'll stay? Sounds treacherous and maybe stupid but I think we should cash in rather than lose him on a free.
I would rather hang onto him for one more year - who knows, maybe we'll win something. Might convince him to stay if things are going well.
I could, at a push, tolerate Kane going to Man U, but I'd prefer if he went to RM, BM, or Juvé, as then he's not going to play against us and he's almost guaranteed to win a trophy, which he deserves to.
Madrid sniffing around to get him as the Benzema replacement. He'd be virtually guaranteed trophies there, but would have to give up the chase of the Shearer milestone.
Two years in Madrid then back to Tottenham? He could probably squeak it. Particularly as he could easily drop back to a #10 role and extend his career.
I admire your optimism. If you take away his goals, we have a -23 goal difference - that is relegation territory.
Now I know why Harry Kane always kicks those free kicks high and wide - he told Good Morning America that he wants to be an NFL kicker after his playing days.
Yes, I think when you look back on that era, the failure to sign anyone for two consecutive transfer windows highlights the ineptitude of Levy as chairman.
Everyone remembers that, but I was also reminded of what poor players were brought in before that. Getting guys who aren't good enough to get on the field isn't much better than getting nobody.
It would certainly have been interesting to see what Poch did with a Bentancour, Deki, Romero, Richarlson caliber set of signings. just for giggles. A back three of Romero-Jan-Toby in front of Porro, Bentancour, Eriksen, Davies. Deki, Kane, Son. Again not those four specifically, but same caliber player.
I noticed a long time ago that until Mourinho, every manager who came to Spurs, going way back has faded into obscurity or mostly failed. Jol, Santini, Redknapp, Sherwood to name four instantly. Another thing which concerns me is that very few managers make a successful transition from country to club which makes me cautious about appointing Luis Enrique. This is a tough one for any coach.
