Watching that documentary brings me back both the good and bad memories of that World Cup (but mostly good! :D). What a rollercoaster ride it was. If I have time, I'll probably go back to all the World Cup threads for nostalgic reasons.

I think every single day I’ll watch a video or two of the Final. It will be some reaction or some interview that I’ve already seen countless times or it is something new. What a euphoric moment.

There's a BBC documentary available on iPlayer about Messi at the world cup, definitely worth watching if you can.

It's an excellent programme. The photographs are beautifully composed for the most part and the interviews. Jonathan Wilson's Angels with Dirty Faces is a superb book too.

I did disagree with a couple of things. When Emi said the squad did not have as many good players as other sides and when Julian implied he might not experience this again. I think our squad was second to none. It was merely underestimated by others.

And with the emerging players, the core of the 22 winners and the same coaching team we have a great shot at 26.

I think Emi was being honest, there were better squads than Argentina, Brazil, France being the obvious ones, but he also said no one had the togetherness and unity the Argentina squad had, and he was right.

I don’t think better would be the right word but rather talented…I do not think there was a single better than us at the tournament. Not just because we won it but as you stated, we played as a unit. Our players knew where to be, where to pass, and how to attack and defend as a unit. Just look at that second goal in the Final. In a matter of a couple passes, we ripped the French open. I cannot think many better World Cup finals goals.

It was what Emi said himself, but he was making same point as you, in the end the togetherness, the mental strength and of course, having the best player in the world and other good players, was an unbeatable combination.

Our third goal was also similar to the first one. It came from one fluid passing move.

We outshoot France 20 to 10, and 10 of our shots were on target. We simply outplayed them and two stupid individual errors forced the game into penalties. Messi also forced Lloris making a good saves twice before he eventually scored his second.

The problem is, the term "world class" has always been ambiguous. Every single player from England NT are considered world class by most European journos. These are people who'd easily rates Maguire highly but has no idea about RDP & Molina.

Also, Spain has top players almost everytime, so how do you explain the fact that they mostly out in round 16 or group stage in every WC ?

    Really ..

Here in England I think the majority just think that Bellingham will be world class and many feel that Kane is world class

There is a pocket who claim that Foden is a generational talent ( I don’t ) ., even though his appearances and goals/assists have actually been getting worse over the last two years !!

He still isn’t a starter at the age of 23 !!

Well, maybe not even talent is the right word… I would rather say underrated and undervalued. Since we’ve won the World Cup, Enzo is at Chelsea, Mac is on the verge of moving to Liverpool… All of a sudden the English press and fans are oheee and ahhhhing.

Lisandro is at United and Julian is with City. Both had solid seasons.

Our players flew under the radar. Most of us knew what they were capable of, the rest of the world did not know. I still remember reading comments from Portugal and England saying “How many players from Argentina would start for our national team? Not many…” There are many players in the world from other nations that I would want over these warriors, before or after the tournament . In terms of talent, I have always been an admirer of KDB, so he would be one player I would’ve loved to have on our side.

But anyways, I hope our players continue to fly under the radar. They’ll be in for another suspense.

Meant to write Not many players in the world that id rather have…

But that BBC documentary is only an hour long? I’m just hoping the Netflix one will be a few part series. I think it will do great.

BBC one was pretty cool but hoping for more behind the scenes stuff at some point. I still haven't seen the Copa America one.
