The Board can't be blind enough to think Firmino (not FirminHo ffs) is a solution. They can't be.

If Benzema leaves, can bet my house we sign a top striker. I don’t think the club has any choice.

They were planning for Benzema backups up until now because they thought Benzema would sign the deal.

Now we head into new territory. The club is not going to show its hand when we’ve not even enter June yet.

Our top league scorer had 12 goals from open play. Replacing him with 3rd choice, old Liverpool striker will be catastrophic. Even if our defending improves in leaps and bounds, we are not close to competing against Barca with Lewa next season if Firmino is our starting ST.

I could be wrong of course but I believe this is what will happen

What old school is this, relatively recent old school, way back in the day it was always you score 4 we’ll score 5, defense was not really a strong point, still, we need better off the ball coordination for sure as we all know defending isn’t just about the defenders, not in this day and age

we weren’t winning the league anyway with Benz staying in that scenario either. Carlo is going to rely on Modric/Kroos so we should be prepared to throw the season away.

I like to believe (I like to believe many things) that both parties (Carlo and the vets) will agree last season was a transition season and the next one will require less of them and they will have a secondary role. Hopefully, Flo is also pressuring Carlo to be more proactive regarding developing the youngsters.

The next season requires a lot less of Carlo. Like none of him :D

Mbappe has been very vocal about not playing as a CF, he wants to play LW and we already have Jr there. I don't think we ever sign Mbappe and given his behavior last time building any sort of plan around that would be exceedingly foolish.

I'd love to see us sign Kane but it's far likely we sign Firmino given the $$$

I can't believe we went from: Flo should not interfere with team selections during the Galactico era, to:

I hope Flo pressures the coach to play this xyz player.

From the point of view for Modric and Kroos, they would not sign an extension to sit on the bench. Kroos has stated as such that he does not want to carry on as a role player and Modric is planning on playing in the Euros next summer.

Granted, maybe their minutes are reduced but they are still going to be starters for the majority of the matches and CL/Bigger ones as well.

Flo is very close to them both and I would bet that assurances were made that they would at least get the opportunity to start. Now, if it’s clearly evident that they are just not able to play (like Marcelo) they may be benched but I won’t believe it until I see it.

He’s a lame duck manager who can take the hit as we transition and load up for 2024. Why change now when Modric and Kroos will start anyway? Flo assured them they would, why else sign an extension?

I thought Flo never asked players who decide to leave to reconsider their decision :D

The old man knows that the pressure will mount to sign a top-tier replacement and he/JAS really, really don't want to spend on forwards that are not named Kylian or Erling.

Benzema's departure might put a massive dent in Flo's unhealthy fetish for Mbappe.

The irony in all of this is the majority of this board was “eh, no thanks” to Kane a couple of years ago…. Now it’s “Kane or Bust”!

That's more on the poor market options than Kane being an extremely exciting player. He has zero charisma.

Precisely, we’re fawning over the “best” of the market when in reality it’s not a good decision to buy. I don’t get it, we do stupid things like buying Hazard at 30 for 120m when that was what the market offered and the RMMB is like, “let’s run that back one more time”

I don’t think Kane will be a complete disaster like Hazard but we can’t operate with knee jerk reactions.

Hazard had had excellent seasons prior to his transfer. We could not predict he would have a serious injury that basically ended his career or at least his courage to play football.

He was expensive for his age, but we were in desperate need of some star power back then, as the team looked very unexciting on paper.

We have debated Hazard enough, but really, despite his poor shape and all that, it was his injury that broke him, and I believe he would have done just fine if fit.

As I said before, blessing in disguise, as that would certainly disturb Vinis's development.

Kane has always been a class player. People looked down on him saying he was happy staying at Spurs for long and lacked ambition to win trophies unlike Modric and Bale. But Spurs also had that pretender phase under Poch reaching CL final and losing PL title to LC. That's when Kane renewed and he wanted out in 2021.

The big question is: Does RM will be ready to pay the amount DL ask for him ?

His numbers in the league are class, rivals Lewa and Suarez and bested by Ronaldo and Messi. He has wasted his career at Spurs.

Rodrigo Faez (ESPN) | The Saudi Al-Ittihad club improved its offer to Karim Benzema in the past few days and became convincing for the player.

Fabrizio Romano (journalist) | Real Madrid is waiting for the final decision from Nacho. Inter Milan wants to sign him, as reported two days ago.

Rodrigo Faez (ESPN) | There is pessimism in Real Madrid regarding the future of Karim Benzema.

    - The administration asked the player to respond quickly and definitively.

    - Benzema's departure will affect the summer transfer market for the Madrid team.

Haaland is unlikely to ever come to RM because Flo is fixated on Mbappe.

One of the chief reasons why the Haalands picked City over RM was that Mbappe was RM's priority; at City he was guaranteed singular stardom in the forward line. The pathological urge to sign Mbappe hasn't changed and regrettably will not change so long as Flo and JAS are at the helm.

Also, there is no good reason for him to leave City after just 24 months. That "clause" in his contract remains a mystery, is it one sided? Or do City/Pep also have a say in it? IMO, that clause was inserted as means for Erling to get more money and perks in 2024.

We bet on Benzema to give us 3-4 years and he was barely fit enough for half of the 1st season and even then his body disintegrated. We bet on Mbappe to be a man of his word and he fu*ked us yet Flo will always go back to him for more.

We are on course to get sh@t on by Mbappe a 3rd time. A kid who's life decisions are made by his mom has been dictating our striker transfer strategy for almost a decade.

As such, I don't see any alternative to signing Kane: a complete beast of a forward with insane numbers considering the garage team he plays for, consistency and professionalism.

fvck mbape and Haaland rumors - Perez please sign someone good to replace Benzeme whether Benzema is leaving or not because his goal contribution would decline further next season
