He’s a good backup for Lewandowski and the meaningless matches . I’d love us to finally try and get Felix !!
No to Felix for me. Performance never matched the hype. No place in our system for him either. He’s like a Havertz, not a true ST/CF, not a true winger. We’d probably pay a premium for the hype too. Hard pass for me.
Maybe. He'll be a good backup if he plays like he did in early-2022 but he's older now. Just the fact that we are interested in Auba is an indication of how desperate Barca is atm and their need to focus on players they can get for free. So, they're not gonna break the bank for someone who got rejected by a 12th-place team.
"Barcelona and Real Madrid have joined the race for Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, according to Sport. The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the brightest midfield talents in LaLiga, netting nine goals and four assists in Spain's top-flight this season. The report indicates that the Spanish duo have joined Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Bayern Munich in the race for the playmaker, who has a release clause of €40m. Los Blancos reportedly view Veiga as an ideal replacement if the deal for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham collapses, whilst Barcelona are also eager, however, the Catalan club are under pressure to comply with LaLiga Financial Fair Play rules, ahead of next season, meaning a deal may not be possible." https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_...barcelona-hatch-plan-thwart-messis-saudi-deal
Barça and Inter Miami to make joint bid to land Messi? "The partnership between the two clubs reportedly proposes that the Major League Soccer side sign Messi before immediately loaning him to Barcelona, allowing him to play one final season for the his beloved Blaugrana before heading off for an international swansong with Argentina at the 2024 Copa America, which will be hosted in the United States. The deal will have the dual benefits of allowing Barcelona to circumvent the strict financial restraints they face in LaLiga while also giving Inter Miami the perfect platform to parade their new signing..." https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_...barcelona-hatch-plan-thwart-messis-saudi-deal
Of all the Messi rumors circling, this one makes a most sense to me. Just not exactly sure what is in it for Inter Miami (where's the incentive to loan him out if they are presumably paying most of his salary?). Unless the loan is for 1 Jan 2024 to 30 June 2024, meaning he would play for Inter Miami in the business end of this and next season, and possibly beyond. I seem to recall something similar happened with David Beckham back in the day when he wanted to build the MLS brand but also still be considered and ready for major international tournaments.
The incentive for Inter Miami is he actually plays there after one season and doesn't choose Saudi Arabia. It's a differentiator compared to the insane amount of money the Arabs are offering him. If Messi really wants another year at Barca and Europe it's a way to entice him to Miami. It's actually clever if it works. Messi could even forgo a bunch of his salary when he plays at Barca. Saudi Arabia offer => Boat loads of money Inter Miami offer => Not even close in terms of money BUT you get to play 1 season at Barca.
Guillem Balague column: Lionel Messi is expected to decide in the coming hours where he will be playing his football next season - the only thing that seems certain is that it will not be at Barcelona. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/65770318 The most worrying aspect is that, with the distraction of Messi, people are not realising since the arrival of president Joan Laporta, the debt is neither being reduced at the rate it needs to be, nor being reduced in sufficient quantities to allow them to have a budget for the players that will allow them to be competitive in Europe.
That's a sobering read. Probably closest to the reality of the situation. There's a lot of gamesmanship and spin at the moment. Laporta may be trying to frame this as Messi's choice alone, but if the club simply can't put together a decent offer then it's moot what Messi's choice is.
The problem is the league approving a Barca plan to make it viable for the club to sign Messi back doesn't mean the club can accomplish such a plan which would involve offloading players that don't really want to leave (Raphinha, Fati, Torres, Kessie). This feels like Laporta making sure people know he was going to do everything to bring Messi back and that it's Messi who will choose otherwise.
Just as long as it gets decided one way or the other. Don't want this nonsense dragging out until mid-August.
Are we still in for Gudogen ?? He just scored a fabulous volley in the FA Cup final after 13 seconds !
Don’t know if this is ‘transfer’ thread or ‘season’ thread [emoji599][emoji378]| BREAKING: Leo Messi is willing to play for FREE for FC Barcelona! However, that isn't possible because of the regulations in Spain. La Liga say that he must have a minimum salary of €25M. @GuillemBalague [[emoji2422]]
