Seeing as you posted this on April 23rd, you missed the most important April 23rd in entertainment history: both the birth (1564) and death (1616) of William Shakespeare.
I went to an Orioles game that Memorial Day weekend with a group of friends. It was a pre-HS graduation outing sort of thing. Ripken played in the game. Within about 7 or 8 years, The Streak became a thing and we tried to remember which game we had seen. His first game was a loss to Toronto while the game on the 31st was a win over Texas. He was an 0 - fer in the first game. He got two hits in the Texas game. You'd think we all have the same memory. But we didn't. Half of the guys think we were there for the Toronto debut. I think we saw his first base hits of the streak. Memory is a funny thing, how it degraded that quickly. And we were all sports fans, so it's not like it was unimportant to us. Sigh.
I don't remember the first game I saw of his, but I had to take a year off in college after having back surgery which meant I was home when the record was being broken and I was able to get scalped tickets to the record tying and breaking games. The only thing I've been to that's close is the Caps winning in Vegas a couple of years ago.
50 years ago, today: Secretariat wins the Belmont Stakes (and the Triple Crown) in one of the greatest individual performances in the history of American sports. This is still the world record on a dirt track. Look at the separation at the halfway point. It's extraordinary. pic.twitter.com/6pUVuJFWxc— Charlotte Clymer 🇺🇦 (@cmclymer) June 9, 2023 “moving like an amazing machine”

15 June, 1215 -- King John is forced to sign the Magna Carta. For my money, the most important single event in western history.
June 16, 1904 Stately, plump Buck Mulligan came from the stairhead, bearing a bowl of lather on which a mirror and a razor lay crossed.
Today in 1984, the Trail Blazers select Sam Bowie with the 2nd pick in the NBA Draft and the Bulls follow them at #3 by drafting the greatest basketball player who ever fucking lived. pic.twitter.com/fVxYFmjR3V— Super 70s Sports (@Super70sSports) June 19, 2023

On this day in 1988 heavy metal and glam metal both died a horrible death as Winger released their debut album.
