The St. Louis Leagues Cup game will be the one to watch that might well break the streak. The team isn't hitting on all cylinders, but the attendance numbers are.
I saw the stadium guest services office/window now has a sponsorship. With that said, I don't make it over there all that much, so it could have happened several months ago.
At this point, what bank isn't a sponsor of the Crew The Crew and JPMorgan Chase launch their partnership founded upon their shared commitment to Columbus, which will be highlighted by the inauguration of the Chase Plaza on Champion Columbus Night on June 3.#Crew96 ✘ @Chase https://t.co/9sTntbWN6E— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) May 30, 2023
According to Columbus Business First: "The deal represents the New York-based banking giant's first Major League Soccer partnership."
1) It's just a real pisser that it's impossible to drum up corporate support in Columbus, as Garber told everyone. It's amazing what being owned by someone who isn't utterly despised in the city can do, isn't it Donny? Asshole. 2) Kristen Bernert has simply set the place on fire. They're rolling in sponsorship dollars and it just keeps coming. 3) Everyone has been wondering whither Jamie Dimon in the overall scheme of things. He was CEO of Bank One prior to the merger with JPMC, and lived in Columbus. Everyone has always figured his close Columbus ties made him a natural. People have been trying to land that particular whale for 20 years and now Bernert has done it.
What makes it better is these aren't pissant sponsors. Of course all dollars are important, but it's the bigger ones...the ones that are harder to get that really are turning heads. NetJets, JP Morgan Chase, Tipico, etc. These are the big boys. KB was a hell of a hire.
The only negative is that real, honest to God big time proven rainmakers are the most in-demand people in the business world. She'll get offers.
You should see this text I got, saying it's not a great FO and these deals are expected because Haslams own the Browns and the truck stops, therefore, they have the clout and how the real test comes once the stadium isn't brand new and the STC hype dies off. Keep in mind the "new stadium bump" from the old stadium was done by 2001... The new stadium bump for LDC is definitely done by now, correct?
Several coworkers are now season ticket members. I've had to retell the whole STC saga too many times.
People still care locally, but when KB (or her subordinates) works the phones to get the deals signed with companies that may not even be headquartered in Columbus...how often does STC come up?
It only comes up because I bring it up. It may only come up in that context if a sponsor wants some long term financial data.
KB is a local girl, she's committed to Ohio. My Applebee's waitress says she's looking to get into a WNBA ownership group, she's also part owner of the NWSL team in New York and the waitress has also hinted that she's looking to bring NWSL to Cleveland. But that could all just be rumor.
Debated posting this in the MLS TV thread Impressions from the soccer speakeasy podcast with Bez: A CB signing was imminent (it happened 2 days after recording). He's excited for Messi with a tone that this should drive not only viewership/engagement but also force other teams to step up the investments. He thinks the TV deal was the right move while acknowledging many production crews have not produced soccer before, so the camera shots and timing needs to be better. Having the same one or two announcing crew's every game helps with that and building narratives. There were specific comments about Nancy's system fitting the overall style and mindset the team wants to play from the first team all the way down. He allows young players to come and make mistakes so that they can be evaluated. There are acknowledged weaknesses of the system. The style the Crew play is not like Red Bull; a low block is troublesome. Bez remarked like he did not like Energy Drink Football. Bez's compliments are very pointed. He won't insult a person (Porter), but he'll compliment Nancy on areas that Crew fans complained about with Porter.
Went through the always reliable ticketmaster website for the remaining home games. I think there are only two games left that may not be called a sellout (>20k sold). If you don't have tickets already for a game this summer then buy the upcoming Nashville game asap or plan on going to see St. Louis or another leagues cup game if we advance. The next likely league play nonsellout is Chicago on a Wednesday in late September. Its also a great time to be a STM. See the below graph for resale prices.
Actually glad you just said this. I only make it down once or twice a year nowadays so I'm not as aware of the ticket sales situation as of late. Good looking out.
Time to edit our Wikipedia page that still praises V-Neck Andy and Tony Q for setting the sell out record in 2014 Black & Gold History 🖤💛Thank you to our incredible supporters who will pack the stadium on June 24 for our seventh straight MLS sell-out and have set a new club record with eight sell-outs in a single season.#Crew96 | #VamosColumbus pic.twitter.com/y46FkPXY8E— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) June 14, 2023 There are still tickets available at Nordecke.com. Seems we found the 35 dollar seats persuade people to upgrade to a seat. (Yes I know there's a discount.)
Andy himself is a sell out, so that's at least a little fitting. Or is being a sleazy, lying, two-faced, backstabbing street whore different?
Omg Columbus Crew is so hot right now EIGHT Straight MLS Sell-Outs 🙌Our supporters continue to make Crew matches the best experience in Columbus. The Black & Gold's match on July 1 against NY Red Bulls is officially sold out. #Crew96 | #CLBvRBNY— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) June 20, 2023
Inbox: Don Garber will be in Columbus on Wednesday for an announcement.Wouldn't be surprised if it's to announce next year's All-Star Game venue.— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) June 26, 2023
I came here for the announcement speculation and was not disappointed to find some quality info. Thanks!
Columbus getting an All Star game before Cincy and potentially with Messi, against one of his former clubs in Barca or PSG, is very funny
