If only John Fisher was "unlimited." When they ask u somethin'... tell 'em ur..... #UNLIMITED pic.twitter.com/832yylOTjy— Russell Wilson (@DangeRussWilson) May 19, 2018
I'd say both can be good. We surely don't need a desperately poor owner, which is what we've been saddled with for the past 15 years. I get that if I was still ponying up a bunch of money for Quakes season tickets every year, and/or I was super cozy with the Quakes FO, I'd probably have a different take on John Fisher's past, present and future impact on our team. But it does seem like a daily back and forth (in here) between the last remaining handful of STH's and those who are sick and tired of the man and how he runs our team and fear we may be going the way of the A's...maybe not immediately, but that's kind of the trajectory we're on and potentially the inevitable, sad conclusion of so little ambition coming from the top of this organization, year after year. Fisher has been terrible for the Quakes as he has been for the A's. I just don't think there's any defending the man or his track record in the Bay Area.
You need an owner who is passionate, has a voice and at least shows that he cares about his team. I don’t know if he does or not but Fisher in 15 years , (other than building the stadium) hasn’t showed any of us fans that he cares about this team. He most certainly doesn’t care much about the Oakland A’s fans and the same can probably be said on his feelings towards the Quakes followers.
150 YARDS? That would be a 450 feet down the line, and 600 feet to dead deeper than any baseball park has ever been. Even the old Polo grounds home to May's famous catch would only be about 30 feet deeper than your 150 yard foul line..
There are practical reasons to have a fence but I think the game would be more fun if there wasn’t a (practical) fence and you had to run out each home run. I remember in little league when we didn’t have a fence if you could hit it all the way to the blacktop you were usually good .
Joe Lacob, the Warriors’ owner, expressed interest in buying either the Angels or the A’s. https://t.co/i0pHD4koPc— Bill Shaikin (@BillShaikin) May 30, 2023 Joe Lacob on the new CBA restrictions that will have a direct impact on the Warriors’ team-building“We’re going to win no matter what. "I'm not going to spend more no matter what. I don't care what the rules are." - John Fisher probably if he were to speak to the press
Some people might take that to mean "We're going to ignore the rules or cheat!!!" That's ambition!! But I think he just means that they'll find a way to win regardless, within the scope of the rules. It's more a commitment to be smart and creative, and I'm sure they'll spend up to the max also.
Well I have seen some people on here look admiringly at the MLS teams who either cheat or bend the rules as evidence of some kind of incredible "ambition". So it follows that they'd look to Lacob to try to do the same and think it's grand.
Sounded to me like Lacob plans to cheat. I thought he was quoting Bill Belichick at first, and then I remembered Bill tries to avoid complex sentences.
Many years ago I had the privilege of speaking with Peter Schutz who was CEO of Porsche at the time. He was talking about Porsche’s recent dominance at Le Mans. The race organizers had recently changed the rules to limit Porsche’s dominance but they won anyway. The team wore T-Shirts that read: “You can change the rules but you can’t change the results.” That phrase has stuck with me over the years.

"Back to back" meetings to discuss "parallel paths" on the stadium project where there will be a "steep rake" and excellent "ROI".
