I see a lot of fans are patting themselves on the backs, asserting that Klein would still be President if they hadn't boycotted, but I don't think enough people are giving credit to the players and Vanney.

After all, they deserve a lot of credit for being really awful this season ;) I'm not sure this happens if the Galaxy aren't sitting last in the table on Memorial Day. That probably made it really easy to explain to Uncle Phil at the barbecue yesterday.

Playing off of MP's yub nub post, this would be equivalent to, "Somehow Palpatine returned..."

Oh, and they'll say that they searched far and wide for him. Not only did the search extend throughout the entire planet, but the entire galaxy as well...yeah I know, too much cynicism theses days with the club...

But we can give some props to the hopefully former ACB heads that decided not to show up even when the “leaders” said they were going back. It looked mighty empty in ACB with only a couple ********heads there.

so props to the real ones that used to claim it and still didn’t show up. ******** you to the idiots that decided it was a great time to start a war between fans. And props to every person that had season tickets and still didn’t go.

We stopped the bleeding for now. Now we start the real rebuild hopefully.

Derailing this thread a bit so apologies, but I recently watched the OT for the first time in ages. I hadn’t seen the special edition and had not realized those bastards had replaced Yub Nub and honestly it’s up there with Greedo shooting first. I am outraged at the lack of outrage over this transgression.

Continuing the derail, I lost a good friend over the Special Edition versions of Star Wars (this can be moved to off-topic or something if it takes away from the festivities here).

My best friend at the time (let's call him Dan) and I were waiting in line on the day the Original Trilogy DVD box set was released (in 2004, I think?). This was the first official release of the movies on DVD and there'd been speculation that both the original and special edition versions would be included in the DVD. Well, leading up to the day, it was confirmed it would only be the special edition versions, which was really disappointing. Dan and I (both huge SW fans) complained endlessly about how bad the SE edits were, but we'd already planned to pick up our box sets on opening day (it was kind of our nerdy thing, to camp out day-of for big releases of comics, video games, movies etc.). Additionally, we heard that EVEN MORE changes were made just for the DVD release, including re-dubbing Boba Fett's voice to that of the guy from the Prequels and adding Hayden Christensen as a Force ghost at the end. The last one I thought was just a rumor, but talking to others in line they confirmed it. I literally got right out of line.

I told Dan I'd wait with him, but I wouldn't buy the DVDs. I'd seen some folks selling boots of VHS versions burned to DVD and figured I'd buy one of those. The guy got furious, which was surprising because we both hated the SEs. He was like "Yeah, but it's the only way to watch SW on DVD!" and I said I'd rather watch the old, non-widescreen VHS versions I had been watching since I was a kid. He was like "What about the hours of new documentaries!" I said I'd borrow them from someone else of just watch them when they were (eventually) bootlegged online. The dude couldn't get his mind around and eventually just told me to go home. I bought the booteg DVDs that night and never looked back!

A big thank you to all the SGs that stuck to the plan. You didn't start the push but willingness to refrain from attendance was the cherry on top of this cow pie they've been feeding all of us. Now the rebuild can begin from the top down. You dodged a bullet there Mr. Beckerman. Pack your bags Kirovsli. You next buddy.

Vanney can't be too far behind and then we can become a team again. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Or you think they make Vanney president!? No, no, it's just my head messing with me. IT"S OVER!

    Big thanks to:

-The Supporters Groups (LARS, Outlaws, Galaxians)
-All other fans who cancelled Season Tickets, stayed home, didn't buy merch etc.
-Kevin Baxter, COG and others in the media who kept the pressure on
-ACB scabbed, but I do think the confrontation on Saturday did have some effect, so I give them some quantum of credit as well

    Honorable mentions:
-Douglas Costa: his commitment to being a real shitheel made it impossible to overlook how bad a signing he was. He never rested on his laurels and continually found new ways to disgust fans and really show how inept the people who hired him were.
-Greg Vanney: Nearly spoiled the plan by stumbling onto a formation that worked best for the actual players on his roster, but he showed his commitment by ditching it as soon as he had the chance.
-Chicharito: Failing to score is easy; it takes real craft to make it look like you're never, ever gonna score again.
-Jonathan "Stone Feet" Bond: Getting a result on the road trip could've turned things around and sparked some hope. Even a narrow loss in a well-played match might've stemmed the bleeding. But conceding in the most ridiculous way possible made sure fans could take no positives from the performance.
Efrain Alvarez: Resisted the temptation to live up to legacy the #7 holds for this club by being an absolute turkey. Almost overplayed his hand by being unbelievably disappointing, in fact.
Kevin Cabral: Showing Batman-levels of planning, he's been playing the con longer than anyone, arguably. Like the WB frog, he'd show Vanney just enough to earn a start in training only to be a turkey when the lights come on. Masterful misdirection.

Maybe among the most rapid of the Riot Squad members, but at least some of us who are not in a supporters group could care less about your squabble and don't think that there is anything to forgive. Ditto for the Riot Squad members we know, who attended the same game we did.

Personally, I believe that the results on the field had a lot more to do with Klein's departure than the boycott. I am also not convinced that it will do much unless AEG changes how they manage the Galaxy. In particular, a deemphasis on profit and judging DP signings based on their impact on ticket and jersey sales. Without this the new boss will be impotent.

They broke the boycott, talked some shit, made anti riot squad tifos (!!!!), Tried to frame riot squad for bigoted comments on discourse, and more. They're officially expelled from the fraternity of acceptable galaxy fans

You know what would be a badass Galaxy move right now and indicate that they're back for reals? If the league released a statement that the summer transfer ban has been lifted because Klein was let go. This would harken back to the Galaxy we all know.

Not that my vote counts for anything, but I think that Vanney would be better for the Galaxy as the president with a new coach. Vanney not only pointed out a lot of structural problems but managed to get the funds freed to start addressing them. Klein couldn't get them addressed on a permanent basis when he was president. As an example, (and one that I have pointed out multiple times) Sigi was shocked about the Galaxy's lack of scouting and preparedness for roster issues. He hired his son as the new head scout. Sigi's son left at the end of the year. Klein didn't replace him and let the old tailed system under Jovan restart. Another example would be the film room.

    FANTASTIC NEWS!

    HAPPY DAYS AGAIN?

Everything rides on who Beckerman picks as Klein’s replacement. Does he bring a smart, hard working and ambitious CEO who will over time restore the Galaxy to their former glory? Or does he screw the pooch with another crappy hire? The good news is it will be almost impossible for him to do worse than CK!

MEANWHILE THANK THE LORD AND PASS THE GRAVY!

Glad AEG got it right and fired Klein first. I don’t know how invisible Jovan survives. With Vanney appointed as the head of soccer and reporting directly to Beckerman, I wonder who will run the nuts and bolts of the club behind the scenes? I assume Klein had multiple departments reporting to him.

Still pondering the Kuntz interview last night. I wonder why he left LAFC and what “out of contract” meant for him. He seemed ok and articulate, and at least he made himself available, but wasn’t overly impressive as maybe our next president. The circumstances were difficult, so I’ll be interested to hear more about him. Out of all the guys left there now, he could be the most pivotal.
