Delap has looked increasingly lazy this last season, very weird.

Same problem as the under 17s. No one in midfield that can make a pass or control the game. Is there anyone to come into this squad apart from carney?

What a dull match. A much better performance will be needed to beat Italy.

We play Italy on Wednesday in the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium :ninja:

    Great experience for the players.

Life is like art. A happenstance of little experiences that happen all over again in the most unusual way.

    Cantona says it best:

That'll be all four of our games played at the same stadium. I wonder if that'll be any advantage given Italy haven't played any of theirs there.

You’d hope a slight one, but given its on the way to becoming a cow pasture, it probably evens itself out!

Still 6 more games to be played on it. I dread to think what it'll look like come the final.

Hopefully the longer gaps in between games will help.

I would have taken Adam Wharton. I know I bang his drum alot but he's exactly the kind of midfielder this team lacks. He can control the tempo of a game better than any midfielder in this squad

Squad selections are often a puzzle during the development stage but maybe there’s a valid reason he couldn’t make this squad. I think it would be bizarre to think the coaches don’t think he’s good enough.

He wouldn’t start though in this system would he? Alex Scott deserves that role in this squad.

Alex Scott is another class player. Problem Wharton would be used off the bench

A rematch of the U19 semi-final is our ‘reward’ for topping the group. Italy’s scorer from that day isn’t at this tournament. Miretti sat on the bench tonight for Juventus.

Going to be a tight game. Really need Chukwuemeka and even Norton-Cuffy starting imo.

I would have picked him. Maybe they went for Gyabi as they deem him similar to Chukwuemeka.

Small advantage as Italy's best CB is suspended & there's a significant drop-off in quality when it comes to replacements.

Doyle and Norton - Cuffy have both posted on Instagram they flying tonight as well. As they in business class they will be able to try and get a proper sleep

France nearly had a miraculous recovery (losing at one point 1-0 with a player sent off) but they are out. Got robbed of a penalty in the final moments that would have got them through. Not sure why VAR did not intervene?

Another decent performance from Carney yesterday so he should be coming to the tournament feeling confident. I think he could be a factor next season under Poch. Madueke has been pretty good for Chelsea recently too.

I genuinely thought Carney would be the breakout star of this season. It's not happened for one reason or another, but let's hope a good showing in the remainder of this U20 World Cup and a strong start under Poch can propel him forwards next season.

It'll be interesting to see how Italy face us tomorrow and if they make any adjustments for us. Arguably they're the most talented opponents in the tournament. They have a bunch of technicians who worked to great effect against Brazil but they struggled to deal with Nigeria somewhat - and of course we beat them in the Euro's off two set pieces. Given the pitch is likely to be a blood bath given its current state and a game already played immediately before, coupled with us being one of the most physical sides in the tournament, i'd expect it to favour us, but it'll be close.

Hopefully Chukwuemeka and Norton-Cuffy make it in to the side, I think that may be the difference.

Will be a tough game against Italy, we’ve certainly not benefited from a kind draw. Just seen the USA qualified for the QFs, they’ve played the worst team in the tournament Fiji, the worst Uefa team Slovakia and the worst Conmebol team Ecuador in the group and then New Zealand in the last 16.

    Good luck to them.
Seems to be a war going on between USMNT fans and Leeds fans on Twitter since the relegation. Don’t want it dragging onto here :ROFLMAO:
