Official #SportingKC Injury/Availability Report:QUESTIONABLE - Alan Pulido (quad), Dany Rosero (adductor), Logan Ndenbe (ankle), Khiry Shelton (adductor)OUT - Tim Melia (quad), Kayden Pierre (hamstring), Willy Agada (tibia), Kortne Ford (Achilles)What a disastrous report!— Chad Smith (@PlayFor90) May 25, 2023
Add this to disastrous handling of TWO knee injuries to your DPs and its inconceivable that they have not made wholesale changes to their AT/PT/medical staff.
Read into it what you want about the injuries, Voloder is starting for SKCII and Afrifa is on the bench. it leaves Fontas, Rosero, Castellanos, and Rindov as CB options.
Getting to the congested summer part of the schedule where we've struggled for years due to lack of rotation and we're already old and banged up. This is a large part of the reason I would bet large sums of money we do not make the playoffs.
You're lucky. TV has Nate Bukaty and Meola as commentators. How Nate is anything besides a local radio guy is beyond me. Talks a lot, adds zero to the conversation.
Foul in the buildup, but I don't know why they even checked that... The goal was offside. Guess it's maybe order of operations for VAR?
Shaky start but damn did they turn that around! Salloi is such a heartful player. Good to see games when his skills match his energy. Easy man of the match for me, though Rosero and Thommy have a shout.
That goal from Thommy I think just turned the game on its head. The game had all the makings of Portland scoring and then holding that 1-0 lead for all the points because we were just cycling the ball around with no intent. He puts that banger in and then the whole energy changed.
Gio being as jaded as KC has at times… Gio Savarese: "We had control of the match for the majority of the game." #RCTID— Ryan Clarke (@RyanTClarke) May 28, 2023
Great individual effort from Thommy to bring the boys into the game. On the next goal I'm confused after watching the highlights how that foul is what reversed the goal, Shalloi had at least a foot, hip and shoulder offside and the foul was nowhere near the ball. Great fast team play on the second goal, ball wide to Liebold, first touch into space, head up and sees Zusi, waits a moment then a decent cross, another one touch into some space, head up and sees Shalloi, beautiful pass across goal to meet a great run in by Shalloi for the simple redirection. Goal three starts with a Route 1 pass to Shalloi who brings it down with such a sweet touch, I'm pretty sure he was already aware of Pulido so he positions himself for the pass, it is met with some good defending but the ball continues to be dangerous and Pulido keeps up the pressure resulting in the own goal. But the final goal, oh that final goal, A great run by Felipe, a sublime pass from Roger, a touch and then a goal. So happy to see goals coming from all over the place. It is how you keep teams guessing and why I am a season ticket holder. GO SPORTING!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was interesting to hear Tony Meola gushing with compliments over how Zionis played. I have to agree that he is getting better, but still has a ways to go.
Good game overall but I noticed how slow Pulido is, especially his lack of acceleration. While he never possessed speed, he previously could get by defenders with quick first steps and great ball control. Now I think he can only score with smart moves in the box and receiving a clever through ball.
