    Trouble brewing in Brighton.

2-0 to Everton after a half hour, Leeds into the relegation zone as things stand.

    correction 3 - 0.

Who would have thought B&H would have laid an egg?

but Fulham beat up on Leicester.

Classic Dyche performance. Defend deep, apply tons of pressure when the ball is on the edge of the 18, aggressively counter.

According to an interesting article in The Athletic titled, "Leeds United: What happened?", Brenden was actually a Bielsa target, but Salzburg didn't want to let him go until the summer:

Also worth noting: all players have relegation clauses that at-least halve their wage bill, and the club is banking on being able to sell the young talent they've recently acquired to soften the relegation blow:

Milan were also interested in Brenden but Marsch's bid of 30M + killed any interest from anybody else but Leeds.

Not looking good for Aaronson. I really don’t want to see him get hacked up in the championship. Maybe another suitor comes calling though but Leeds can’t part with everyone.

They have to win against West Ham away and at least get a tie against Newcastle or Tottenham to have a decent shot at staying alive.

One of the teams going up may get him for depth, but only if Leeds are ready to sell at a reduced price.

Frankly, a time in the Colaship may be a good thing for him. Or maybe that's his level.

Honestly, I'm still a believer in the idea that a player under the age of 23 should just be playing as much as possible at the highest level possible. I don't think a season in the Championship will ruin him. The quotes from the club a pretty flattering, seems like he has the skill and the drive to succeed, but I can see how a season of failure with the label of "2nd most expensive signing in club history" hanging over him might temporarily hurt his mentality. I think he'll bounce back.

Between the very expensive Jean-Kévin Augustin debacle and Rutter looking like the most expensive flop in club history, I think the club has bigger problem players to worry about.

Aaronson ain't going nowhere, he'll likely be in the Championship.

Rumor is that Wes will not be staying, even if Leeds somehow stay up.

One can hope Tyler Adams gets on a another Prem club - his stats show he can contribute, depending on the tactical approach a manager will expect from him in midfield. I hope the injury did not dash any hopes of a transfer. Of course, I would also not be shocked if TA stayed on and tried to lead Leeds back to the prem as a team captain/co-captain.

Unless they offer him a baller Championship contract, I doubt it. A 50% wage reduction is hard for a player of his caliber to stomach. Honestly, I think quite a few of the "on the cusp of the top-4" clubs probably have him as a 2nd choice target behind Declan Rice. I think that him, Rodrigo, and Gnoto are gonna help Leeds recoup some of the costs they incur from the drop.

Does his current contract become null and void if they go down? I don't think so, but granted, I am not an expert on player contracts. They either keep him for the Championship and pay him what his current contract is, or they sell him to recoup some money. I don't think they reduce his current wages by 50%, but please educate me if you have the info.

@mattjens linked the source: The Athletic's latest piece on Leeds says that all players have clauses in their contracts that drop their wages by a min. of 50% and a max of 60%.

Thanks for the links. I was unaware. Well, that is good business by Leeds (for once), because I am almost certain they are going down. I am very confident they are one of the 3 worst teams in the league, but I still hope they can somehow avoid the drop, albeit undeservedly.

Wes and TA will escape if relegated, I hope BA can as well, now that I know about those clauses.

Well I saw a little article on Aaronson staying next season no matter what, and overall I'd say I'm mostly on board. I'm a fan of our players pushing themselves and we all saw what Aaronson needs to work on. I say keep him in the gym all offseason, hope for a sale to the 49ers and a great DOF and coach hire, and let Aaronson learn how to play while banging bodies.

If it works out, we all win. If it still doesn't happen for him, then he can focus on down leveling a bit and creating a still very solid and respectable career for himself.

Terrible goalkeeping, bad center backs, no left back, and one of the worst finishers in the league with no game plan whatsoever.

Aaronson showed he could play in Prem but he didn't improve on his skills this year so he's worth what he was worth when he left Salzburg for Leeds: 18M-22M

Problem is Leeds bought him for over 30M.

Does the relegation accounting make sense to sell him for 18M-22M vs. using him to get back up?

The club have said they expect him to stay so they want him.

The next drama at Leeds will likely be in the boardroom as Forty Niners and Radrazani (current majority owner) discuss price for a 49'er takeover at Championship level fee. I believe that is still open for discussion. After that there is the issue of who gets hired in the front office and as manager. All those things might affect Aaronson's future, I suppose.
