Amazing that Luton Town was able to climb up to the PL in only 9 years. other things of note around international soccer, Dortmund bottled the Bundesliga title on the last day giving Bayern another title, and this year was considered an "off year" for them and this last day of the PL has so much drama
For the bottom six teams maybe. Teams in 7th or 8th through 14th or 15th have little to play for. In the MLS playoff system, perhaps 24 or more of the 30 teams are focused on making the playoffs and within that jockeying for possible home field advantage.
I wasn't even thinking about MLS, I was thinking more of international leagues, were I the watcher is not invested in a specific team and enjoy a bit of drama
no worries, in the words of one of our iconic coaches "I'm just knackered" when it comes to arguing and being contradictory when it comes to this team and league.
I might be the only one but when the European leagues finish up, I always get this empty feeling, in the pit of my stomach, I enjoy waking up early to watch football matches and now its gone for the next few months
Tigres comes back from a 2-0 deficit and takes the LigaMX Clausura title, I thought it was funny that Tigres players were egging on chivas fans and throwing crap back at them after the last goal
That was an epic collapse by Chivas, tough on them and their fans. But honestly Tigres earned it with superior athleticism and assertive play. Chivas kept pumping balls into the box, but it seemed to me that Tigres had the height/strength advantage there. Anyhoo, lotsa drama!
I was way out in the boons but somebody had the game on. Lost 50 bucks. Thought Chivas would take it. Especially tied at Akron. It still makes me happy to see them lose. I wonder if MLS people watching this saw the coach for Chivas was Veljko Paunivic. This dude coached the Fire for a few years and got them very close a few times to some hardware. Maybe he could give Galaxy a whirl. They probably gonna fire him from Chivas although there is good arguments to keep him with the year he's had.
Yep, I saw Paunivic there - at first didn't know why I recognized the dude and thought he was a former Mexican national team player or something.
Has anyone been follow The Soccer Tournament (TST) in North Carolina? It's am open small-side (7v7) tournament for a $1million prize. Dempsey has a team in the tourney that features Wondo, Jermaine Jones, Eddie Johnson and Luis Robles! There's a bunch of former MLS stars but also players from around the world. Final is this weekend. https://thetournament.com/tst/teams/team-dempsey/ Edit: That's just the tip of the iceberg! Bealsey and Conrad have a team. Magee has a team with Nick Rimando on it. Mia Hamm has a team with USWNT legends. The Gracies (of MMA fame) have a team! AJ DLG has a team with Lee Nguyen! Wrexham, West Ham and Dortmund are all sponsoring teams. This thing sounds awesome!
it was mentioned earlier around here, I had forgotten about the tournament, till of course racism hit the tourney and the MSM picked it up, which really sucks for the tournament West Ham game vs Dallas United suspended due to racism allegations | Daily Mail Online
