In this upcoming much-anticipated game, for which Spurs fans around the world have stayed up all night and had parties for, we will all finally get to see the final 90 minutes of the season that'll confirm whether or not Spurs will qualify for the much-heralded and long yearned for competition, the Euro Conference League. Tottenham fans will hope that a win against the mighty Leeds will ensure qualification and encourage Harry Kane to stay and sign a new contract (ably advised by his brother). We're all hoping that this over-achieving team will end the season on a high. Players like Dier, Sanchez, Lloris and Richarlison have played well beyond their abilities all season to help the team get to where it is now, despite the misfiring of Son and Kulusevski. Truly, we are on the cusp of Euro greatness. This could well be the final game for several players, such as Lloris, Kane, and Davies, who I'm sure we'll all miss if they go. The benefits of qualifying for the Conference will be a much needed boost for our returning loan players, who have doubtless had less glorious seasons at their loan clubs (Gil, Ndombele, Lo Celso), especially Harry Winks, our little Iniesta, who spent most of his time at Sampdoria injured and was thus unable to save them (as he undoubtedly would've) from relegation. The future is bright!
And I thought I was sarcastic... Thankfully, my son has a basketball tournament this morning, so I will miss Big Sam's samba dance at the end when Leeds miraculously stay up.
Hoping this is Mason's last team selection EVER, but would not be surprised if he gets the permanent job with Levy already cacking up the manager search. Tottenham Hotspur: Forster, Emerson, Sanchez, Lenglet, Davies, Porro, Bissouma, Skipp, Son, Kulusevski, Kane. Subs: Richarlison, Danjuma, Tanganga, Lucas Moura, Sarr, Austin, Craig, Alonso, Abbott.
Tottenham XI: Forster, Skipp, Sanchez, Son, Kane, Royal, Kulusevski, Porro, Davies, Lenglet, Bissouma, Subs: Austin, Richarlison, Danjuma, Tanganga, Moura, Sarr, Craig, Alonso, Abbott. Leeds XI: Robles, Ayling, Forshaw, Koch, Cooper, Harrison, Rodrigo, Struijk, Kristensen, McKennie, Wober. Subs: Meslier, Firpo, Aaronson, Roca, Summerville, Rutter, Gnonto, Greenwood, Chilokoa-Mullen.
Pierre-Emile 'Slightly better than Steffan Freund' Højbjerg has just returned from injury, but Mason has left him out of the squad, probably because if he does get injured he may lose his holiday deposit.
I think Leeds have got 6 defenders on. Brighton pulled a goal back. If we don't qualify for Europe, we'll need to sell a bunch of players as there'll be less games.
Thoughts and prayers for Big Fat Sam on this most difficult day. He'll have to make due with about 2mill less of a wedge than he'd hoped. **tear falls silently down Sam's cheek as he stares at the new Bentleys through the showroom window**
First season for a long time that we haven't been in Europe but, get the right coach and we'll be back the season after next.
I think he meant getting 'the right coach' won't happen with Levy. Claiming that Levy cannot get us into Europe would be fairly preposterous. Even for Golara.
