I thought that was a pretty fair number based on how it looked in the second half, at least compared with how it has looked earlier this year and in prior seasons given the attendance numbers announced then. Of course, all MLS attendance numbers are off because they are based on tickets distributed, but they've been doing that for years at all stadiums. I don't know that many people were there for Pride Night specifically though. I thought it was interesting that they handed out the Pride pins on the way out rather than the way in. They were probably worried people would throw them onto the field at the players and refs given. They were nice, but they were pretty big metal pins with sharp-ish edges. Definitely could have hurt someone!
At least when we were god awful in 2017 and under Ruud, we could score goals. I’m convinced our defenders are pretty good, just forced to play twice the defense they should every night because we have no attack.
By the way, the players heard it from ACB after the game. Credit to those players who came over and endured it patiently. This is as REAL as it gets… Chris Klein has to go. Unacceptable result. @LAGalaxy #ACB #LAgalaxy #MLSSoccer pic.twitter.com/muJLwrd4J7— Darryl Satcher (@DarrylSatcher) May 28, 2023
This was odd. Klein attended Vanney's press conference, but stood off to the side. Guesman of Corner of the Galaxy said it was unusual. Chris Klein standing at the side of Vanney’s press conference. Didn’t take questions. Left the room ahead of Vanney. #LAGalaxy https://t.co/u2PMIZS7Ln pic.twitter.com/G8XUcw49dN— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) May 28, 2023 I don’t know that I’ve ever see him come down to the press conference. When it hasn’t been a really big moment. https://t.co/Hg68zoVNS0— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) May 28, 2023
Took Edwards all of 5 minutes to get completely on wrong side of his man and kill our shutout. Announcers mentioned Vanney “thinks Edwards best position is as a right back because his final ball isn't high quality.” Has Vanney ever watched him defend? Bond also at fault on goal - should've come out and snagged that ball. Boyd’s left foot is as good as Alvarez’s. Every other part of Boyd is better. We have zero players who can deliver a quality final third pass. Ref shouldn't give a second yellow for a minor foul. That said Chich’s fault for getting the first one. And that being said Chich is working as hard and cares as much as anyone on the field. Our starting back four had their best game on the defensive side of the ball. The rainbow LA Galaxy markings on the grass were beautifully painted. Rogandino and broadcasting partner were mediocre. We are a terrible team and Vanney is a terrible coach. Game, as usual, was painful to watch. I feel sorry for the players and sorrier for us fans.
This was my first match of the season. Was gonna go to the LARS viewing party but the little one actually wanted to go the game so I decided to go. It was nice to be in the stadium and banter with fans. Expectations are super-low; most people are just watching with a sense of bemusement. No one really expects to win. Someone said it in the thread, but if you can't beat Charlotte at home, then who can you beat? Don't even know what to say. It's not even just tactics anymore. We're just all around shabby. Even when we get into dangerous positions or penetrate defense, we can't finish or even find the final pass.
I appreciate the players who were there and Vanney for facing that. But they deserve it. Having to face what’s left of an angry fan base is the talking point here though.
This team can’t go on like this. We aren’t even half way through the season. Would love to know what Vanney really thinks… is he delusional and thinks we are going to get better? Do he and Klein think they can endure loss after loss like this. It’s killing the young players…Half empty stadium, fans yelling at them. This is going to get uglier if nothing changes.
Hearing that Klein waited for Vanney, had an aside and walked off together. This could be it! I mean, yeah they could just be going for tacos after the match but this. could. be. it!!!
Good enough for me #KleinIn "Don't bother coming to work Monday." *gulp* "Because it's Memorial Day. Remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice."
Can’t speak about the game because I didn’t watch, but it sounds like it was DIRE. From reactions on twitter and in here, Chicharito’s red card, from the 12 people in ACB breaking the boycott and chanting “we want better” at min 96 and then “talking” to players and Vanney, to a casually dressed Klein at Vanney’s press conference, is this it? Is this…. Rock Bottom?
I didn't like the “We want better!” chant they switched to, especially when it is yelled in the direction of the players who had the decency to come over and meet with them. Yes, we want better but the chant confounds recent game results with the bigger issue of AEG rehiring a lazy incompetent FO. It comes across as blaming the players. I don't blame them - most are doing their best under very trying circumstances. You know bosses who put you in a position to succeed? Yeah? Well this is the opposite. If ACB needed a second chant they should have gone with “We want Dan out! We want Dan out!”.
A little context on Aude and his departure for Edwards last night Aude was crying when he was walking off the field. He wasn't having a good game. Might have picked up a knock as well. He was holding his back. #LAGalaxy https://t.co/TUQguWIyKH— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) May 28, 2023
Aude was clearly the weak link that Charlotte was keying on. A lot of danger occurred down his side. Going forward Aude wasted crossing opportunities all evening. Putting Edwards in made sense. Of course Edwards proved to be just as vulnerable defensively and was at fault on the goal. at least Aude is young and has potential.
Potentially bad news on Boyd Saw Tyler Boyd leaving the stadium last night. He had his left hand wrapped in some sort of cast. He hurt it early in the 2nd half, from what I remember.— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) May 28, 2023
Terrible game from Aude, but it must be hard to come to a new league in a terrible team at a young age and to perform right away. It says a lot about Calegari, who has been one of our best player this season (though the Brazilian had more experience).
Onalfo was 6-10 with a bad roster when given das boot.. Klein is on Vin Diesel levels of “family” with Vanney at this point.. he has no choice, its comically tragic that when it goes bad the team is seemingly allergic to goals
Firing Vanney is not simple because he's also your Sporting Director. Do you leave him that role? Does Dan Calichman step up as the interim? Never been a head coach anyplace worth mentioning.
