11:30am in the USA and Canada, 1:30am in Kangaroo land. At the half way point of the season tickets to this match were impossible to get. Spirits were high and the club was flying. Its been a rough end to this season. Disappointing, but at the same time we have see some massive improvements in a lot of players. Hopefully the club sits down, dissects where this season went wrong, and work hard and diligently in the off season to right those wrongs. Sell who we don't need, bring in who we do, do it early before Chelsea try to copy our homework again, and hit the preseason hard after a break. We have gone from 8th to 5th to 2nd. Time to climb that mountain again and this time reach the summit. The last time we spent this long in 1st before finishing 2nd, we won the league the following season. Time to thank the players, coaches and staff for their efforts, time to say farewell to players who won't be at the club next season, and hopefully we get to see some players who are the future of the club get minutes. With 0 pressure at all, hopefully the boys go out with a high attacking intent and aim to put a big number up against Wolves to send the fans home happy. Its a long time between now and next season, empty the tank, put on a show, and score some ********ing goals. COYG Arsenal to win 6-4. Jesus x3, White x1, Saka x1, Trossard x1.
Refreshing to see such an early MD thread. But I am wondering why are you and others stayed away from starting the last thread? Forcing me to start it at last minute. Did y’all know something that I didn’t about how Forest & Arteta were gonna “conspire” to see us drop all 3 pts while crowning 2 trams with the achievement they were striving for?
Saka, Trossard, and Reiss are questionable/doubtful for Sunday. Saliba, El Neny, Zinchenko, and Tomi are out.
Interesting. Apparently Saka has been carrying something? Rather than, or in addition to, being burned out?
From Arsenal.com: “The curtain comes down on an incredible campaign when we host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, and while second place is secured, there are a couple of statistical achievements we could still claim as we aim to finish with a flourish. A 26th victory of the campaign will see us equal our highest-ever tally in the Premier League, also achieved in 2001/02 and 2003/04, while three points would see us hit 84 which would be the third-highest total in our history. The omens are good seeing as we’ve won all of our last 13 final-day home matches stretching back to 1993, while Wolves head into this encounter on the back of a three-match losing streak on their travels.”
Also, from that same article, they seem to say that they will stream the post-match stuff, including lap of honor, on Arsenal.com. Which would be much appreciated because Peacock will probably do its typically abrupt ending 60 seconds after full-time.
Yup. Cable through DVR is absolutely superior viewing experience compared to streaming. Hands down. I look forward to the day when the latter equals or exceeds the former. But at the current rate of improvement that may take a few more years.
Today's match sees Andre Marriner officiating his first for Arsenal this campaign. The Gunners have won 27 of the 48 games he has presided over. Referee: Andre Marriner Assistant Referee 1: Simon Long Assistant Referee 2: Scott Ledger Fourth Official: James Linington VAR: Tony Harrington Assistant VAR: Stuart Burt
Xhaka going out on a high note - that is quite a redemption arc. I'd have thought it more likely that I go to the Mars than Xhaka redeem himself after the Palace game, but here we are. Also good on him for bowing out while he is on top, rather than sticking around, going through a bit of a decline, and realizing he should have left a few years before.
Wishing Xhaka a grand farewell, and hope the team finishes on a high to help build the hope for next season. C'mon you Gunners!
Peacock has also got the Goal Rush stream today. So if like me you have a 2nd screen and want to keep an eye on the relegation drama...
