So many bad touches and passes from almost all of the starters tonight. Brody, Löffelsend and Hidalgo were exceptionally bad. Ojeda imitated a scarecrow defending on the Loons score. Happy for the road point. It was a good road trip overall. I really would like them to get some wins at home.
Glass half full: We've only lost 1 of our last 10 in all competitions. Glass half empty: Even with that stretch we're in 11th out of 14 in the conference.
Keep winning in USOC and maybe they can hang around 9th in the league until after USOC and Leagues Cup. Mostly solid defensively tonight. I think Eneli can take Ojeda's minutes after he leaves in June (there is 0 reason to keep him). Brody looked good on the left, but some passes were definitely off. 10 games in 30 days is no small task and I think the wear, rotation and unfamiliarity is showing. I honestly thought there should have been more crossing given Kreilach and Musovski up top. It's a point on the road against a decent team, so no real complaints. I'm curious to see what happens Wednesday night.
I like Ojeda. I would like him more if he wasn't sitting on a couple million dollar bill. He's a good player but a long way from a great player. $3-4 million bucks could get you some good players in this league. Where's the best place for that kind of money?
I actually think a better version of Rubio would be better than a tall #9. I don't think they need to send in constant crosses with Sava and Gomez on the wings. I'm all for a dominant #6.
I agree with this thought as well. RSL just seems to be more dangerous when the ball is on the deck and not the constant floated crosses into the box. It wouldn't hurt to have a 9 that could also score on crosses but beggars can't be choosers, right? But at the very least let's just pick a lane.
A big tall 9 doesn’t mean mindless crosses, and only crosses at the expense of playing through the middle. It’s someone who can body up to a defender, win headers when played in the middle of the field too, hold position, and distribute (to the wings?). Basically, I want 2012 Sabo back.
I want Sabo back as well. Sad thing is, I feel like the current higher ups wouldn't sign a player like that.
We didn’t spend a fortune on Sabo. We got him and the Argentines because of excellent scouting, evaluation, and people in the organization reaching out and developing trust with them. And re: Sabo. Remember how a lot of us (me included) used to complain that he didn’t contribute much defensively? The current RSLer would thump that RSLer upside the head and tell him how naive he is. There are other posters here who said, basically, “He finishes and he creates space for the others. Who cares what he does defensively?” You know who you are and you can definitely pat yourselves on the back.
