The matches are coming fast and furious in the 2023 edition of MLS. As Summer is fast approaching, teams are starting to seperate themselves from one another. Out East FC Cincinnati is starting to put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack. Injuries are starting to really mount up for New England. With their CCL and Open Cup obligations over Philly is free to put its full; attention on league play. Orlando & Atlanta are still inconsistent as ever. Between their league inflicted roster restrictions and injuries to key players, Miami is struggling. Somehow Hernan Losada has Montreal punching above their weight. Toronto is in a tailspin between their injuries, and poor roster management. Now there's whispers (loud voices?) that Insigne does not want to work with Bob Bradley. Hany is leading Nashville up the table as always, putting in his usual MVP calibre performance. Chicago is, well the same Chicago they've been for the past decade +. Red Bull NY has a new coach, and up till this point has been struggling. The Crew are close to being a very dangerous team and serious contender under Wilfried Nancy.

Out West, well The Champs are still at it. LAFC has balanced all competitions, and is leading the west while making the CCL final. After a hot start, injuries are starting to bring the Sounders back to the pack. St Louis is the story of the league. They are turning MLS, it's pundits, its fans, and how everyone thought a team should be built on its' head. Dallas is winning with their troop of Home Growns as usual. Luchi Gonzalez has quietly turned the Quakes into a playoff contender. Adrian Heath is putting in a coach of the year worthy job thus far with Minnesota United. Despite missing their best player, and mounting injuries he has them competing for a playoff spot. Austin has regressed back to the mean that their numbers last season suggested they should be at. Portland continues to be inconsistent, and injury riddled. Can Vancouver finally get over the playoff hump? Ben Olsen has Houston fighting and competing every game, which is a huge improvement over 2022. RSL is inconsistent. Then we have Colorado, SKC and the Galaxy bringing up the rear. Will Vermes and Vanney survive the summer?

This week has a couple of intriguing matchups. NY City welcome a suddenly surging Philly team to Queens. Can the Revs get back in the win column when plucky Chicago visits Foxboro? Orlando welcomes their fellow consistently inconsistent rival Atlanta to the City Beautiful. CITY welcome a tough Whitecaps side to the Gateway City for the first time. East & Shield Leaders FC Cincy hope to avoid a Rocky Mountain High when they visit the Rapids. The nightcap has a matchup sure to warm the cockles of the USMNT fans with FC Dallas visiting the Quakes. The Weekend is then rounded out on Sunday with a pair of Fox Sports games. Sporting KC welcomes Portland to town in a matchup of struggling teams. The week ends with what should be a great game between Nashville and the Crew in Music City.

As usual all game times are eastern. National broadcasts & Free games are listed. All games can be viewed using MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

MLS N&A play by play threads are neutral spaces. Keep all rivalry-esque banter out of these parts. Bullying. personal attacks and/or trolling will not be tolerated.

LAFC are the team on the bye week.

New York City and San Jose are the only MLS teams that are unbeaten at home, but winless on the road.

Montreal and Miami are the only MLS teams that have yet to draw this season.

Colorado is the only MLS team who's winless at home. They host red, hot Cincinnati, and a win for the Rapids would be soooooo MLS!

Houston Dynamo have conceded 11 goals so far, which is good for 3rd best in the league. Trouble is, the team have only scored 11 times, which ranks them 26th.

Excellent goal by San Jose's Cade Cowell in the U-20 World Cup - worth checking out if you haven't seen it. Picked up the ball at the center stripe and weaved and dodged around Slovakian players before drilling it home (looked like a deflection helped).

I am going to NYFC at the Mets stadium tonight. Where should I pregame? Or do they tailgate like C 38 in Colorado?

Rapids have 7 players Out for various reasons and 4 players listed as Questionable with injury. By my count that only leaves them 8 midfielders and forwards that are fully healthy, and that includes two Rapids 2 players on short-term contracts.

Make that 9 as the Rapids just added a 3rd callup from Rapids 2.

    ******** everything.
I haven't looked at the leaders for the tournament, but he should have multiple goals in every game. He has been very wasteful in front of goal. In the first game I thought it was funny since he was hitting posts and the crossbar, but it's every game and he looks like a man playing with children out there. It seems like so long ago that he was the husky looking baby faced kid on the Quakes.

Have to say, Multiview is pretty sweet for Apple TV. Works a helluva lot better than the ESPN App multiview. I tried using the ESPN Multiview earlier today, and just gave up. I hope it works better on Roku, if not it's a fail and needs to be fixed.

Orlando vs Atlanta is the only matchup between teams above the playoff line in the 5 early games.

New England resembles the walking wounded...so many players out injured. Shaqiri looks rejuvenated under Frank Klopas.

I'd say toast (if we're talking New England)...this could be the start of a bad trend for the Revs with so many players out hurt. Too bad for the fans too. Like you said, they've got a great crowd in Foxboro tonight. A losing streak would suck for their attendance. For the Fire though, maybe this will draw out more fans to watch them at Soldier Field.

Because marketing to the smallest demographic of smart TV users is apparently a thing.

That was pretty cool.. nearly simultaneous goals for New York City and Orlando in their respective games!
