The “Tiny Hotel” isn’t even on the property, that’s the old Hooters Hotel next door (has a new name now). I’ve lost many a dollar there, and eaten ungodly numbers of wings by their pool. What I don’t get, that’s much bigger than 9 acres of the 35 on the site.
Yeah, the reporting up until now was that Tropicana was going to build a new hotel and casino on that site. However this rendering appears to be using the entire site just for the stadium. What is the point of this fraud? Also, more people are pointing out that this is basically the Coliseum with Mt. Davis removed. https://t.co/teSEw3qwZU— Jason Burke (@ByJasonB) May 26, 2023
Looks like the same stadium authority that oversees the Raiders stadium would be responsible for this too. The pumpkin pie haircut freak who owns the Raiders has got to be loving that. https://ballparkdigest.com/2023/05/26/draft-of-as-ballpark-funding-bill-released/
Good luck getting to your seat in the upper deck without any aisles... what is that, 300 seats across? pic.twitter.com/am7oV90b9c— Anti-Fisher by Design (@AsFanByDesign) May 26, 2023
Reminds me when I had to choose my moat seats in Avaya. No aisle was shown next to the wood-encased centerline suites, so instead of selecting the center-most seats, I selected seats in the next section over (giving up ten yards or more in the process). Of course, the as-built stadium included an aisle not shown during seat selection. With better drawings, I could have had better seats, but of course then I might not have been able to hear @TyffaneeSue shouting encouragement to Shea from almost immediately behind me.
That time the A’s asked A.I. to whip up some sweet renderings but forgot to include “the site is nine acres” in the prompt so the ballpark took up 34 acres and Bally’s Corp. was all, “WTF, did you even read the memo?” #clownshow pic.twitter.com/LVhQWa4EXf— Vital Vegas (@VitalVegas) May 26, 2023
From @JohnSheaHey : MLB talks big on diversity but is quitting on Oakland, its most diverse city: https://t.co/YDL5RpFVkO— Matt Kawahara (@matthewkawahara) May 27, 2023 A's owner John Fisher willed the team's demise. He embarrassed his fellow owners. And now the league is going to give him a free pass to a questionable market? How does that make sense?✍️ @Ken_Rosenthalhttps://t.co/G22kwQSzKb— The Athletic (@TheAthletic) May 26, 2023 if the arch is really 600 feet tall I fully support this The MGM is 30 stories. Based on this rendering, that'd make that stupid arch over the park, what, 600 feet tall? This feels like a bad Photoshop. pic.twitter.com/F2JWaJZm8p— Tony Frye (@Tony_Frye) May 26, 2023 related? The A's are 10-42, the worst start in MLB in 91 years. They have a 6.88 ERA as a team. They are batting .222. They have been outscored by 184 runs.We are witnessing one of the worst teams of all-time. Always remember, this was done intentionally.https://t.co/0d3BCsxB8R— Kyle Glaser (@KyleAGlaser) May 26, 2023 I do like that these Vegas stadium renderings have no scoreboard, to spare A's fans unnecessary pain and suffering. https://t.co/9l8K69sNvH— Field of Schemes (@fieldofschemes) May 26, 2023
The number of black players in MLB has been declining and is now at the lowest point since 1955, which is only 8 years after Jackie Robinson broke baseball’s “color line”. I assume there is a similar decline in viewership among African-Americans..
Quakes are moving to Las Vegas confirmed There would be a projected 95 ticketed events at the ballpark each year. 82 of those tied to A’s games. #vegas #athletics #mlb pic.twitter.com/H4gm2iTgJm— Mick Akers (@mickakers) May 29, 2023
I can't imagine what MLS games they would play at this tiny baseball field. However, Allegiant Stadium hosts the Leagues Cup final every year so maybe Fisher will tell Garber to move that game to his stadium once it's built?
Gotta love how they just slapped a bunch of logos on there like they e takes to any of those organizations
They’re making quite the case Nevada legislator asks about repeated studies showing public funding of stadiums doesn't pay off in economic impact.Guy pitching A's deal: "If you build a stadium in most places around the United States, it is going to have a negative economic impact."(1/2)— Bill Shaikin (@BillShaikin) May 30, 2023
When I tuned into the video stream that was exactly the part I saw. The guy made such a phony unsubstantiated argument. I don't think it matters though - they threw him a softball and didn't question the fact that he hit a foul ball with it. I'm afraid this is political theater.
You think John Fisher, one of 29 soon to be 30 MLS owners and hardly one with clout, could convince Don Garber to move Leagues Cup his new baby with LigaMX, to Fisher's baseball stadium?
On the other hand, the legislature had no problem coming up with even more money for the football stadium.
I mean most likely adding the MLS logo to that slide was nothing but a lie. Just to do the thought exercise these are the only games I could imagine would be played at the Tropicana: Leagues Cup Final (downgrade from Allegiant, but at least they keep it in the MLS family) Quakes friendly or preseason game (it would need to be a well known opponent) Leagues Cup Quakes game against a Liga MX opponent (a number of Liga MX teams could sell 30,000 in Vegas) Move the Levi's Cinco de Mayo game (unlikely because it would complicate the STH package, but if it could save Fisher money...)
Would there even be room in a 9 acre retractable roof ballpark for a soccer pitch? Keeping in mind 5e render we’ve seen is so much bullshit and twice the size of the ultimate product they’d have to produce.
