Absolutely. Rooney better keep the squad absolutely focused on the main prize. This has trap game written in large block letters.
Don’t let Mike Bradley beat you. Don’t give him time on the ball and he’ll do nothing. Otherwise, he’ll find dangerous players and cause problems. Osorio is good but he’s not going to pick the pass that breaks you.
This is worse https://theathletic.com/4555769/2023/05/26/toronto-fc-insigne-bernardeschi-bradley-mls/
Pretty much. The locker room is toxic, players don’t trust Michael Bradley not to run tattle-tale to daddy (despite the fact that he had similar arrangements with previous coaches not named Bradley), DPs are badly underperforming, and the sporting director thinks his skillset is far better than it actually is. In essence, TFC has no plan and no vision despite splashing out huge amounts of cash. So an even hotter mess than our front office. Which is saying something.
Oh and the team president uses Transfermarkt and watching football to identify players they want. He also seems to meddle. He also is in the bag for Cheating Bob...
I like our chances. This is a trap game, but we handled our last trap game pretty well, and came out with the three we were supposed to get. We pass another test like that, and we’ll have firmly established a trend. Beat the teams we’re supposed to beat, and be competitive with the league’s established elite.
The Italians think Brad Bobley is a bad coach, plus they are jealous of each other, plus they don’t like talking in front of their captain and coach’s son Michael.
Watching all the preview stuff and the Extra Time stuff makes me super nervous that we are going to crap the bed here. Too much positivity pisses off the Soccer Gods. Too much negativity too but they are capricious so you can't predict. If Toronto plays like they have, I think we have a good chance of putting multiple goals past them and getting Cheating Bob fired. But that would make me too happy so I'm thinking we eke out a 1-0 victory from a dire match and fly home to never speak of this match again.
Running it back from last Wednesday and Saturday's games. Birnbaum, Fountas, Santos, Najar all on the bench. Your Starting XI for tonight! 🦅#DCU || @InovaHealth pic.twitter.com/LNlUnR1Q9y— D.C. United (@dcunited) May 27, 2023
Obviously Cheatin Bob put a lot of junk into the press so United would overlook this match. That's the only explanation for how United is playing and losing.
Toronto looks like a team with its back against the wall and fighting. DC looks like a team thinking this would be an easy win.
