Cyle Larin has 8 goals and 3 assists in 1300 minutes of La Liga action.
David has 22 goals and 4 assists in 3000 minutes of Ligue 1 play.

Now can someone explain what happened to both during the World Cup?

It seemed to me the Mounties had lost their composure. They appeared overwhelmed by the occasion.

Does anyone know where to get Athletico Ottawa attendance numbers?

In their first game they posted 7,040 attendance against the Wanderers. The home games against York, Pacific and now Forge have not had attendance reported as far as I can find.

    1. Worst possible luck vs Belgium in a game they would have won 99/100 times with that play. Jonathan David is automatic with penalties, but for some reason Alphonso Davies takes the penalty and obviously misses.
    2. Out-coached and out-classed by Croatia.
    3. Played Morocco very evenly but couldnt get the tying goal.

Introduction to world class soccer for Canada.

Week 7 attendance numbers Ottawa not reporting 3 attendance dates, Halifax not reporting 1.

I am hearing AO has good size crowds, but they have only reported their first game attendance which allowed people to pay whatever they wanted for tickets, from 0 to $50 in increments of $5.

I've been by that stadium. You aren't exaggerating. It's among the best locations of stadiums I've been to in US or Canada.

Would be interesting to see if he ends up going somewhere else. Just imagine him on Man City or Real Madrid.

I’ve always wondered if we might see him in England after I saw his comments about being alone all the time in Munich and has nothing to do or enjoy when he’s not practicing/playing. I think for the same reasons the EPL is attractive to a lot of our guys, it’s probably attractive to Davies.

I agree with this strategy. Our top guys play a lot of games in a year and deserve a rest.

Disappointing we just lost out on Niko Sugar (Croatia u21) and Farsi declining a call up this summer (deciding his international future and didnt want to be called up) and some other dual nationals not committing.

For the Gold Cup, I'm most excited to see:

Moise Bombito (Colorado, was injured for 2 months after being drafted - Generation Adidas, seems to have all the tools to be an absolute rock at CB) Ali Ahmed (Vancouver) Mathieu Choiniere (Cf Montreal) Viktor Loturi (an absolute young baller in midfield for a terrible Ross County team in the SPL) and Kyle Hiebert (St Louis SC)

I think it's the right strategy after a season with a World Cup in the middle. It's the same thing the United States are doing.

The question is how good is Canada's depth and how are they going to look in the Gold Cup without their frontline guys. My sense is that there will be some growing pains but that Canada will be better off in the long term having tested out some of their up and coming guys.

Considering our youth program is absolutely dormant and we never make the olympics and barely hold senior camps, it's vital to blood some youngsters at this competition.

Will we win it? Highly unlikely, but Nations League is the top competitive prize.

Oops! @CANPRO I did not realize who I was responding to I thought I was trying to answer a USA fan. My Bad big time.

I wanted to delete or edit that post but it was too long after posting for me to do that. I will try to ask a more or less friendly MOD to do that but I did not want you to think I was quite as crazy or stupid as the p0st made me seem. :( Sorry.

Interesting response by B.J Callaghan when he's asked about Aiden Morris. He just sort of dodges the question - Starts at 31:45.

I would imagine John Herdman is telling Morris that he can be a fixture for Canada alongside Davies, Kone and David for the next decade playing in World Cups, the next Copa America, Nations League and get the international exposure that helps springboard a young player like him to Europe or he can take his chances with the U.S and maybe get capped once or twice and then forgotten about with their deep pool that gets deeper all the time.

A few years ago, it was a no-brainer to reject Canada, now? It's a tougher question.

I didn’t think his answer was indicative of anything.

Canada is obviously pushing for Morris. But the US will definitely call him for the Gold Cup and he’s just not a guy I see switching if the US continues to give him opportunities.

But we’ll see once the Canada Nations League roster is announced.

He was apparently supposed to attend Canada's camp in Bahrain last year but had a passport issue. I understand some in his camp have been pushing him to join Canada. Interesting situation in any event.

Him being open to attend a camp doesn’t mean he’s going with Canada.

He also ended up in the US pre World Cup camp. That was likely a counter move from Berhalter in response to the Canadian interest.

The most likely scenario is that he ends up on the US Gold Cup roster.

Saw the last 20 minutes of the Vancouver match on FS1 last night before falling asleep.

Have a hard time believing these teams wouldn‘t be be better off in USL 1 or 2. Sorry. I have watched enough of these matches since inception and I think that would have been the better route. Maybe it couldn‘t be done because of money, couldn‘t guarantee enough Canadian players on the field, etc, but have a hard time thinking different.

Open to anyone who knows better telling me what I‘m missing. CANPRO would appreciate your thoughts, not the rah rah propaganda guys opinion TBH.

Vancouver are an expansion team that are terrible. Forge and Pacific FC are both pretty good with lots of strong players that IMHO would be near the top of USL. The other 6 teams are not very good.

The problem with joining American leagues is that the American player is prioritized, which doesn’t help the development of Canadian players.

The league is still experiencing big growing pains. Minor league sports is also a tough sell in Canada no matter what anyone says.

Im just happy the league still exists given the Covid19 pandemic.

It’s not perfect, but it’s a way to develop the Canadian player pool which is sorely needed.

About 35 Canada-eligible players have received league starts this season.
About 215 US-eligible players have received league starts this season.
Considering Canada have 11% the population of the US, Canadians are overrepresented in MLS.

The CPL is Canada's Division 1 though, so it's NOT a minor league.

Not exactly. There are ~ 90 roster spots available on the three Canadian Teams that could theoretically be all Canadian players. Add in the NeXT Pro teams for TFC and the Whitecaps, and there are even more opportunities. Then again, it's TFC.....so.... Academy players be damned.....

It is in the eyes of many Canadians considering the 3 MLS teams that exist in Canada, regardless of what the CPL wants to classify itself as.
