28 Jan Lugano - FCZ 1-1 Basel - Luzern 2-3 29 Jan YB - Winterthur 5-1 Servette - Sion 2-2 FCZ - FCSG 1-0
27 Jan Vaduz - Wil 2-2 28 Jan Aarau - Thun 1-0 29 Jan Bellinzona - Yverdon 0-2 Xamax - Schaffhausen 1-1 SLO - LS 2-4 Major questions in the 2nd half, can LS make a run at promotion? Can Xamax avoid the drop.
11 Feb Servette - GCZ 2-1 - Philippe Senderos has left his position as sporting director at Servette. Basel - Sion 3-1 This was the 38th straight loss for Sion in Basel. 12 Feb Lugano - Luzern 1-1 YB - FCSG 5-1 FCZ - Winterthur 1-1 The amazing thing is yes, YB is a long ways ahead, but spot 2 (Servette) and 10th (Winterthur) are only 9 points apart. That is amazing. Challenge League 10 Feb LS - Xamax 2-3 Aarau - Yverdon 1-2 12 Feb Vaduz - Thun 0-3 SLO - Win 3-4 - SLO has still not earned a point in 2023. Bellinzona - Schaffhausen 0-2
One of the biggest surprises of the transfer season, Kevin Mbabu has joined Servette on loan. He really struggled for playing time at Fulham.
Servette picks up 3 points from Winterthur to make up the match that was cancelled a few weeks ago. 1-2 was the final score.
YB cruising to the league title again. Servette keeps turning wins into draws and is making the race more interesting that it really needs to be. Sion is a mess and they could be relegated. But there is still only 12 points separating 2nd place from 10th.
Luzern II running away with the title. But it is more a question of who has the stadium to get the correct license.
Servette vs YB will be streamed for free today on FIFA + at 12:00 pm EST. Knowing the way Servette has been playing, they will take a lead then give it up late. https://www.fifa.com/fifaplus/en/live/event/2N0RTdqJWG5PIjPXVAhiCMnpLHH
Sorry it has been so long. Basel, who is not having a great domestic season, still manages to keep advancing in Europe. 15 April Servette - Lugano - Rematch for the Swiss Cup match from a week ago. Luzern - FCZ 16 April FCSG - Winterthur Basel - YB GCZ - Sion YB is safe. There are a few clubs that can still challenge for 2nd place. Realistically, there are three teams that might be in the relegation playoffs/
Challenge League 14 Apr Schaffhausen - Yverdon Xamax - Wil Thun - Aarau 16 Apr Bellinzona-Vaduz LS - SLO - Should be a fun match Yverdon seems a safe be for promotion. LS is trending in the right direction as well. The Promotion playoff position is still up or grabs with about three teams in the mix. Xamax seems destined for the relegation playoffs.
For what is it worth - the Promotion looks like this: Chiasso ceased operations, so they are going down. In theory YF Juventus could catch Biel/Bienne, but they have a terrible defense. They are tied for most goals allowed in the league, and have the fewest goals scored. Not a good combination.
Congratulations to YB for winning the title. If Servette could figure out how to put teams away, they would be safe in 2nd place. Licenses came came out today:
Servette has guarantied European play this upcoming season. Sion is in real danger of being relegated, even with the playoff. Yverdon has all but guarenteed promotion. Xamax will need to fight through a playoff to stay in the Challenge League. The Promotion League is a mess for those who will be promoted. Stade Nyonnais did not receive a license. Baden did not either. Etoile Carouge did. So who know who will end up being promoted and end up playing Xamax for the play-off spot.
Servette finished in 2nd place! I would not have guessed that at the beginning of the season. Sion into the Relegation/Promotion playoffs with SLO. If SLO were to win, Vaud would have 3 teams in the Super League. Too many in my opinion. European Places: YB gets a bye to the Playoff Round. YB will play the winner of the Belgian League or Rangers, Braga, PSV, Marseille, Sturm Graz, TSC, Panthinaikos or 2nd place team from Belgium or Ukraine. Lots of options. If they win, they will make the Group Stages of the Champions League, where they would be Pot 3 or Pot 4. If they were to lose, they would be in the Europa League Group Stage. Servette in the 2nd Qualifying Round. They will be unseeded and will play either the runner up from the Ukrainian League or from the Belgian League. I think they would be the underdog in either of those ties. If they win, they would play Rangers, Braga, PSV or Marseille. If they lose they will go to the Europa League Champions Path 3rd Round. FC Lugano will be in the Play-off round for the Europa League. There will be 20 teams in that round, and Lugnao will be in the lowest pot for that. Luzern and Basel both will be in the 2nd Qualifying Round of the Conference League. There are 106 teams in this round. Basel will be one of the seeded teams and Luzern will not be.
