I doubt they would know that. The panel hasn’t met yet and contains some independent members I think.
I agree, and being a 2003 born he has another two years of being in the under 21’s where England can monitor him and continue to develop him. . .
It’s time people from outside England stopped being childish and just admit that John Stones is brilliant. A selfless, elite player with the intelligence, quality and composure to fulfill the positional duties of whatever Guardiola asks of him. I just wish he was better at staying healthy, if he was he’d be world class already and any team in the world would take him.
It's extremely unlikely Toney will be banned for more than 6 months at most based on previous bans for gambling, which isn't exactly ideal but certainly won't rule him out of Euro's, or a huge amount of next season. The only person I'm aware of who ever got more than that was Joey Barton who also made numerous bets against his own team which is viewed far more seriously. The bigger issue with Toney for England is him managing to sustain this form next season. We've had a lot of strikers in recent years break into the squad with great seasons, then fall off completely the next season with form and/or injury issues - Calvert-Lewis, Abraham, Ings, Bamford.....
I must say things were at an all-time low last summer and fall when England were losing and we had him to deal with given all of the false gossip and drama he was spewing.
Let's not forget, the Euros (and probably Southgate's last hurrah) are only 14 months away. So, if anyone new is going to break into this strong and tight-knit England group, then they really are going to have to start hammering on the door. Not politely tapping like a few are at the moment. Can we find that new ball playing centre half to replace Maguire in that time? Colwill and White seem the only possibles right now. Is there an alternative to Jordan Henderson out there? We might just have to hope Mount and Philips rediscover their form. I like youngsters such as Chukwuemeka and Ramsay, or the idea of playing Foden there, but time really isn't on their side.
Lots of transfer rumours about Mount right now. Where do we think he goes? He's a very Klopp style midfielder in my view
Liverpool seems his choice. Could suit his playing style but that squad needs a lot of work and I don’t know if they going to spend enough to be competitive for CL. The Bayern links feel more like something his camp have released to get Chelsea to make another offer than anything concrete.
Do t rate mount at all and don’t want him in the England team or arsenal can see him going to Newcastle
John Stones is another player I raved about years ago and got laughed at .. He’s got everything plus he’s marvellous on the ball
Can’t see him at Newcastle unless Liverpool or Spurs don’t try for him.(Chelsea will sell to anyone who pays due to their FFP problems). Newcastle won’t offer a massively high salary which is one of the sticking points for him and Chelsea.
My guess is Southgate’s comments last week were sort of reminder for him to turn up in the summer. With his excellent form he will never be left out if that continues as I’m not sure even Southgate could find a reason and I doubt he would ever outright say he thinks he faked injuries.
They would be mad to sack him when we are top of the qualifying group and have won the hardest game on paper.
We ALWAYS qualify easily .. not surprisingly given our squad plus others . There was a pundit on Sky the other night saying that EVERY other manager in World football would swap their squad for Englands .
So Rashford ducked an England callup where we were playing Italy in Italy (hardest game in the group) so he'd be ready for Newcastle and then loses 2 nil. I like Rashford but thats not on.
