Yeah I assumed that but based on the Ticketmaster charts I thought at least 1k nonresale tickets were available. Maybe the STM numbers are higher than I thought. Especially in the upper part of the upper deck.
Leftback is not an issue to me. Even if we don’t add anyone this summer at least by next season don’t waste money on Room, Nagbe,Molino & Yeboah. Nagbe is the only one I would keep on a lower contract. I imagine we could sign a lot of talent without those 4 contracts. I do wonder do we sign anyone of significance this year?
Pretty good game, love the brace for Morris. We weren't hung out by a Meram Meathook, so all is well with the world.
Just posted the above before Yeboah put one in during stoppage. 4-0, that's a nice score. EDIT: I had to drop my cat off at boarding when the game was starting, so I watched from the beginning when the game was in the 77th min or so. Flying to Columbus tomorrow for work, training/cert class for Oil and Gas administration in Athens.
10 goals in two weeks? Who the hell are these guys? I know we scored four tonight, but Milos Degenek was my MOTM. Dude was everywhere, particularly in the first half. Schulte didn’t have to do much, but he had a great save in the first when it was still a contest. Three in two for Morris? Wassupwidat? I’ve gotta keep bringing my nephew to games. He appears to be something of a good luck charm.
This team can't stop making history. First time #Crew96 have won consecutive games by 4 or more goals and ditto for the +9 goal differential over consecutive games. cc: @ChrisDoran18 @BaileyAJohnson_ @_Pat_Murphy— Steve Sirk (@stevesirk) April 2, 2023
I seem to remember you were against boycotts because they didn’t work. ?? Also, so you’re not watching Crew matches?
It's time to make your smart choice for Player of the Matchday! Who ya got?!— Major League Soccer (@MLS) April 2, 2023
3 home games. 2-0. 6-1. 4-0. 12-1 total. Pretty good, right? What is the saying in the army? Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action. Well, we are at 3 times. IDK what the soccer equivalent is, but we are beyond happenstance/coincidence for sure. I was sick last week (COVID after effects) & coukd not make it. Enjoyed this one in person. Chef's kiss on the first goal.
You can see the system starting to come together. Lots of great interchangeable movements in tight spaces tonight. Also, is it me or does Lucas seem to not have to carry the creative engine of the team compared to last year.
The goals have arrived. Remember way back right before the beginning of the season, when many people were weeping and gnashing their teeth at the squads lack of depth-specifically about how no respectable franchise should be starting Josh Williams in 2023? Anyway, watching Justin Meram trudge around the field last night was really rough. RSL have an absurd lack of talent, and a seeming lack of belief and effort that helped elevate them in seasons past. Columbus have no such issues. 3-0 and Nancy was still throwing center backs forward into the box on attacks. This team is so SO much fun to watch. I guess there are a few long time fans that have a big anti-Apple, or anti-streaming service, anti-whatever soapbox that prevents them from watching. I’m not here to yuck anybodys yum, but ya’ll are truly missing out.
Where can one watch Nancy's postgame press conference? I looked on YouTube, Apple TV, and the Crew website...
A word on Morris' 2nd goal. Play started with a Nagbe/Zelarayan interchange that sorings Nagbe in behind for the shot. Deep in the penalty area/edge of goalie box. The shitvis saved, but not cleanly, and Morris races in and taps it over the line. Both CMs were DEEP in the opponents PK area. It has been a while since I'be seen that from us. Especially with a 2-0 lead. I love it.
It's early but when was the last time we could say this? Through six games, Columbus is tied with St Louis for most goals scored in MLS, and 3rd in MLS in goal differential (1st in the East, only behind St Louis and Seattle league-wide)
It does seem like Nancy has realized its better to have Morris going forward than Nagbe. Morris seemed kinda reserved and hesitant the first few games. He’s been much more assertive the last two or three games though. He’s still not very good on the ball, he needs to work on that. Sands has been serviceable, but man is his first touch bad. He has the first touch that a lot of people think Zardes does. A couple times his heavy first touch either led to him having the ball tackled away, or he had to take a bad angle just to try and keep possession. I love how hard he works, but that is a position we can definitely upgrade. Madranda can play on the left or right, so we won’t have three left back necessarily. Vallecilla has been good so far, but in both his games he hasn’t had much to do honestly. DC won’t be much different, but the New England game in a couple weeks will be a different story. They have very dangerous attackers. Matan did his usual thing of dribbling and penetrating but not being able to find a quality final ball. LZ looked good, hopefully Nancy convinces him to spend more time hire up the field, it’s where he’s most impactful. At this point, I’m almost viewing Matan as a Nagbe clone. He’ll do a lot of dribbling, but goals and assists ain’t his main thing. There is value in that, but it has a ceiling. I still think Matan should be taking corners though over LZ. Not much else to say really.
I think Sands knows the system better than anyone else, so [edit] even with his offensive struggles, he is preferred. The comfort with Sands allows Frenchie to push up into an inverted RB/DM role, which pushes the DMs and Matan up the field. When he wasn't in, we played a 5-3-2 with Matan often dropping deep to defend the roght while Morris and Nagbe covered the left side.
