Coming off a game like St. Louis and jumping back into the fire against a team that just took apart ATL 6-1 should be, or could be, rather apropos for April Fools Day. Should be rather interesting to see what happens between now and Saturday. Another drubbing and someone or multiple someone's seats could and should be getting pretty hot. Is the plan to have Dami move into the HC job considering they just extended him even though he has been pretty much a ghost out there? There are a whole lot of questions that will go away or be answered depending upon how quickly and how often RSL starts winning games. If I were a betting man I would be the odds at Pablo and Fall surviving the season at pretty slim with continued performances on the pitch like we saw against St. Louis. I stayed the entire game. It was freaking cold. My starting 11 MacMath Eneli Glad Vera Oviedo (I am really interested to see a Silva and Vera combo in the back.) Ruiz Ojeda Gomez Luna Sava Julio Dami, Jasper, & Brody need to sit. They probably wont though. No idea what the score will be.
No way in hell Pablo benches Kreilach Even though it is obvious it doesn’t work with him as a starter
Is there a realistic way to make him fit with this roster? Honest question because I don't see it (I'm nowhere near an expert though). I'll be in attendance though. This is one of (hopefully) 3 road games I'll attend this year.
It's weird isn't it? It seems like if you're on Pablo's good side you play even if you are not performing at a high level and if you're on his bad side you can't seem to get minutes to get on his good side. I will not be surprised if Dami starts on Saturday and totally surprised if Eneli starts. Even though Eneil probably played better than most of the other RSL players including Dami. Dami may have had the worst game of any player but will get the start.
Regarding the Cbus win over ATL, it should be noted that Cbus committed 3 red card fouls but didn’t get even one shown.
Maybe something like a 5-3-2 where the wingers are wingbacks and Kreilach is one of the two forwards. With how slow he is, I feel like if you're forced to play him, a 2 forward approach is best. Doesn't require him to come back for defensive duties much, and being up top hopefully keeps him in the attack more, rather than slowly trying to catch up. I don't see him working as a lone striker, because defenses can easily swarm him. I don't see something like a 4-4-2 working because of how many wingers we have.
Jasper was just getting over strep throat and almost wasn’t cleared to play. So, at least he has something of an excuse. I have my own theory that he might have been intimidated. The St. Louis roster has several former Bundesliga players. Jasper is from Germany and went to Pitt rather than the lofty heights of the Bundesliga. I can’t prove this of course, but I had the thought prior to the game.
Man, this is stacked weekend. LDS General Conference, RSL, and Wrestlemania. With how sad RSL has been lately it's going to be tough to pick this game over Wrestlemania. Glad Apple TV has the game replays!
I used to be a die hard basketball fan. It literally was all I watched and played but I can't hardly watch it anymore. In the college game too many whistles and in the NBA not enough. Not having to endure tv commercials watching soccer has ruined me for other sports.
Don't know if I'll get in trouble if saying who, but it came from someone that said they were in town to see him get his first start.
What do you know, Beavers is starting. Ilijah Paul's first start too. Kreilach and MacMath are both on the bench. This lineup has at least 3 things that I thought there was no chance of. The XI for our rendezvous in the midwest.#CLBvRSL | #RSL pic.twitter.com/HaYc2vJQaZ— Real Salt Lake (@realsaltlake) April 1, 2023
Well my source (claimed to be his dad), was right. Very interesting starting lineup. Beavers Brody Vera Glad Eneli Ruiz Ojeda Meram Chang Rubin Paul MacMath, Pierre, Caldwell, Jasper, Luna, Kreilach, Gomez and Julio on the bench. Lots of firepower on the bench. I think this could work. Don't concede and maybe get a late goal? Any idea what's going on with Sava? No Musovski on the bench either. Is the club saying anything locally? I'm at the match, so any insight is great.
Injury report for this one: OUT: Zach Farnsworth (thigh) OUT: Axel Kei (ankle) OUT: Erik Holt (Achilles) OUT: Bode Hidalgo (hamstring) OUT: Bryan Ovideo (calf) QUESTIONABLE: Marcelo Silva (hamstring) PROBABLE: Jefferson Savarino (calf) PROBABLE: Danny Musovski (ankle)
A piece of trivia that I think might garner some attention - Gavin Beavers was not born yet when Real Salt Lake played their first ever game. RSL's first league game ever was April 2, 2005. Beavers was born later that month, April 29, 2005. He is the first person to play for RSL who wasn't born when RSL played their first game.
My view from the Lower.com stadium. It's pretty nice here. Just realized I'm closer to the home bench than the visitors, kind of bummed.
