I have to say, among everything else, the management of the squad has been utterly dreadful. Those subs just about did my nut in.

I'm not a Liverpool supporter so I've given no consideration to a replacement.

How about a fullback who can actually defend? Not trying to lay blame on Trent but he and Robbo have been cut to shreds on the wings and caught out of place so many times it's comical. I rate Tsmikas over Trent & Robbo any day of the week. Sure, VVD & Fabinho reverted back to their awful form but our wing defending was so piss-poor.

Offensively, we really missed Nunez but I thought Jota was better than he's been since his injury. But Hendo and Elliott were total shite at winning the midfield and feeding the forwards. Neither should've started but we have very limited options there.

Oh - so in that case you don't really know much about Klopp, what's he's done with Liverpool when he first came to the team, and why we know that he's the right guy to get a chance to turn it around. Plus - he's won a few things too.

Kept on counting our players. Thought we were only playing with 8 the whole game

watch their 4th goal again - Trent is all alone in ACRES of space with 2 MC attackers coming at him.
no full back could have covered that space.

Konate was in another timezone I think.

in 8th place. looking up at Brentford and Brighton.

I'm terrified we'll end up in the Euro Conference Abomination but it's looking more damn likely every week now.

3 Midfielders - all starter level
    1 CB - starting caliber
1 LB - push to start
1 RB - push to start
1 Right Sided winger - can be a younger player.

    That's never going to happen.
Let's focus on just the midfield this window. That's the only priority right now. The others can wait.

I can see what he's done and I can see what's happening now. I don't know why you're so angry because I haven't insulted him or your team. Just not sure if he can turn this around.....that's all.

The are no guarantees that a new manager could either which is always the case for any team . Some managers work out others don't , we only have to look at ManUtd's struggles in recent years as they went thru new managers one after another.
Liverpool have never been a club which hires and fires willy nilly . Our managers in most cases are allowed time . Klopp's successes have earned him enough trust in the bank for him to be given a chance to rebuild his squad.

Be difficult to see who could follow Klopp because there aren't many coaches of his stature around. I don't see too many ex players like Dalglish or Souness who could take the job either. Certainly not Gerrard. You're not accustomed to being in this position which is why I see a problem.

Klopp is a terrific coach absolutely no doubt about that but in my lifetime I've seen other great managers leave the club followed by other great mangers who replaced them. Shankly , Paisley , Dalglish , Rafa etc so I'm confident football at Liverpool will not end after he goes. :)

that's a big problem then - the defense is in a bad way if we look at it objectively. The right sided attacker - ok we can hold off there (unless Salah is sold this summer).

The defense was fine last year. And they will be again when the midfield isn't leaking like a seive, letting countless runners coming through from all different angles and passing lanes.

You don’t know much about Hicks & Gillett, do you? Or Roy Hodgson? Or Dalglish #2? Or Evans? Or the experiment that was Evans & Houllier?

    We are, actually.

Before FSG took over, we were on the verge of going bankrupt. Before that, we’d last won the title in 1990, had had many false dawns since then and always managed to fcuk it up one way or the other. Klopp is the first one in a long time to come near to, go back and run Man City to even greater heights while winning things at the same time.

Which brings me to … where are Curtin Jones and Fabio Carvalho?

I posted about them prior to the match. It’s bizarre. Jones played and scored in the England U21’s over the break. So he’s presumably fit and available. Yet Arthur Melo and Oxlade-Chamberlain made the bench ahead of him.

If there was ever a season for Jones to get his chance this was it. Now players who have no future at the club are preferred ahead of him. What does that say about Jones’ future? What has happened? Klopp used to be so high on him.

Carvalho is another one who the manager has no interest in using. I could see both being sold in the summer. Or maybe loaned so that they can prove their worth with the intention of selling.

agree with you on all that Suss. apart from not boosting the midfield with fresh young legs vs MC, what message are Jones and Carv getting - esp Jones who is doing well for England? their morale must be in the dumpster. Carv must be kicking himself for agreeing to join LFC.

if Trump is hoping they'll ask for a move, his doing all the right things ....

Jones is a player I had great hopes for when he broke into the team . My hope was that this talented young guy might become our next local born big star player. That was four years ago though.
Jones has not impressed me for a long time time now and most times I wonder just what he brings to the team. He's not quick , doesn't score much nor does he create and his development seems to have somewhat stagnated.
Given the sorry state of this seasons midfield what better opportunity for a young player to make his mark as young Bajcetic has done?

Baj has been simply fantastic, but has benefitted hugely from getting a pretty lengthy run as a starter.

unlike Baj - or Harvey - Jones has never had a lengthy run of games to build any rhythm, due to injuries. at this point it's hard to tell if his minutes are still being closely managed - he played 2 games in a week, maybe the physios just warned against pushing him? we may see him tomorrow, who knows (as I'm typing that, nah, I don't expect we will).

at this point I'm wondering if he could end up being developed to take a false-9 (mostly off the bench) role.

we may never see him hit his potential. the lad has skills, energy and loves the club. damn shame.

as for Carv, I have no clue what the problem is, unless he's got an attitude Klopp's trying to address by punishing him.
