9 minutes of madness to start the match with the back four completely clueless. I'm hoping that speed kills in the second half for the Union. So far the attack looks predictably disjointed.
They made an already tough task nearly impossible by not showing up for the first 10 minutes of the game. Missing 9 players.....always going to be tough. If they had Carranza, they get at least a point. IMO, Elliot needs to be benched. Too many needless, easy, careless giveaways by him every game. Teams are now forcing Glesnes to pass to Elliot, and then they harass the hell out of him and he makes a mistake.....
Yeah, screwed up my cut-and-paste there, sorry. Should be Sporting Kansas City, of course. I can't change it now, I think. Do we have moderators anymore?
I hear ya. I said to my daughter during the game- I wish we still had Stuart Findlay, to give him a run of games over Elliott. Also, I honestly believe it should be McGlynn-Gazdag-Perea in the midfield instead of Flach-Gazdag-Bedoya.
Perea is better in the middle. They should have started Bedoya and Flach in their usual positions with either Bueno or Perea in Martinez's role.
This is probably a really bad game to make any judgements from considering the roster we had available. We were really light up the middle in the midfield and I think Flach got caught a bit floaty on both goals. Harsh to blame him tho I feel thats not his best position and he wasn't getting much help at least in the beginning of the game. If Lowe had been available I probably would have pushed Elliott up. Its a very U8 comment but I don't think Curtin would have had two smalls up the middle if he could have avoided it.
SKC have made a sluggish start to the season so they will likely want to put it all on the line to break out of their early slump. Hopefully we can bounce back from last week and send them back to KC with a loss.
Unwatchable dreck. Haven't seen them play that poorly and uninspired in a few years. This is getting to be a coaching issue now. If Curtin can't change things up somehow we might not make the playoffs
It's not coaching. SKC played not to lose. Philly's players are frustrated and trying too hard at times to play hero ball. They need to just do the simple things. They missed Kai badly tonight too. SKC was giving Real all sorts of space to run into and he simply refused to. So many blind passes to no one too....Elliot as usual.
Still too early in the season to get concerned for me. Especially since they Union have a tendency of starting the season slow.
Absolutely awful for most of the match. How much of that was down to conditions? How was it SKC's tactics and Wagner being out? The passing was terrible all match. If they play like that against Atlas, it will likely be humbling. Still, it is early in the season, but they have to start scoring goals and keeping clean sheets like last season.
I'm personally very, very concerned. An extremely slow start to the season with the exact same starting lineup as last year is not what I expected. The passing is extremely subpar. Martinez seems to really enjoy passing to the opposition. Hopeful longballs over the top seem to be the only 'idea'. Curtin with his first substitution at the 70th minute every single game regardless of the situation and creative subs saved for the 88th minute!?! Curtin's insistency to start Flach has ZERO merit at this point in time. Flach offers nothing as an outside mid. This team would be better off with McGlynn & Perea over Flach & Bedoya.
