So Klinsmann is starting which makes the Micovic signing all the more head scratching. Using an international spot on a goalkeeper is expensive. Using two international spots for the goalkeeper position? More reactionary behavior from the Galaxy FO. We are a complete joke.
you are correct. So a less bad signing than I thought. > Bond will not occupy an International roster spot with the club as he holds a U.S. Passport.
Maybe we can trade Bond in league for a winger or something. Decent goalie and non international might have value. however I’m not sold on klinsmann after that second goal yesterday. Would depend on if this new guy is viewed as a near term starter or a project. I don’t know why you’d spend money and an international spot on a long term goalie project.
Panic. Well maybe there’s no real confidence in Klinsmann and then I’d change my answer to incompetence at keeping him on the roster. But if Johnathan is a player we think has a future here, even if you don’t know the extent of his injury until Friday you bring up the GII keeper again. I guess it’s our last chance to sign an international until next year with pending summer ban. Maybe some team wanted Novak or like you say Bond and we’ll use him as trade bait in the summer, seems far too competent for our FO though - unless Kuntz is already having an impact.
We probably need another thread about injuries only at this point, but for now I'll put this here: Greg Vanney said Séga Coulibaly is dealing with groin/hip tightness and Raheem Edwards “turned his ankle a little bit” and will integrate with the squad tomorrow #LAGalaxy— Alex Ruiz (@AlxRuiz15) April 5, 2023

I hope they aren’t rushing Chicharito back, I’m sure they all feel pressure to get him out there. But our entire season rests on his hamstring.
One possibility I hadn't considered: we may be struggling to get good signings because the word is out about how dysfunctional the organization is. We may be making offers and getting turned down by the players with real choices. So we resort to the likes of Costa, Memo and Boyd. I realize the latter two are half decent players(especially Boyd) - but they are not in the class of the wingers of old, nor are they of the quality needed to win in this league.
No doubt that is going on, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Puig starts lobbying to get the heck out of this losing situation ASAP.
I agree that this could be a factor for a veteran, but given that we've brought in two young, well-regarded, prospects from South America to play right and left back, I doubt we would have any difficulty finding pacy wingers who are young, looking for immediate playing time, and willing to come for the right contract. We just didn't do it. It may be that we were caught unawares by the Grandsir personal situation, but that was a long time ago and could have found someone else by now.
https://kurier.at/sport/fussball/wi...uer-weiter-entscheidungen-bei-rapid/402398822 The LA Galaxy are pushing to sign Austrian winger Marco Grüll (24) before the end of the transfer window.
At least this kind of rumor suggests that Vanney doesn’t think he’s set at winger (or at least agents don’t and are pitching their wingers to the Galaxy)
https://www.lagalaxy.com/news/la-galaxy-waive-defender-chase-gasper We waive Gasper. What a bad trade this has turned into.
The Galaxy have waived left back Chase Gasper. LA traded $450,000 in 2023 GAM to acquire him last season. He made 17 appearances with the Galaxy#LAGalaxy pic.twitter.com/Yn3V4OdDk3— Alex Ruiz (@AlxRuiz15) April 13, 2023 NEWS: Chase Gasper has been waived by the #LAGalaxy📷. The former Minnesota United defender made 400K last season. #MLS (If Gasper had met certain performance metrics LA would have been forced to send 300K in additional GAM at some point) @TheStrikerNews pic.twitter.com/cVpOw87LNy— Mike Gray (@MikeGrayAFC) April 13, 2023 What a waste of GAM in the end. I hope Chase is ok. Lots of stories of him chasing some demons and I hope he's doing ok in his personal life.
Aude obviously makes him surplus at LB, but I suspect there is more going on if we're on the hook for him salary cap-wise regardless (assuming no one takes him on waivers).
Completely forgot the Gs had Chase on the roster. Wonder if he'd been hurt or just DNP via coach's decision. But yes, hopefully his life situation will be okay.
Why do we consistently overpay for these players? Oh yeah, maybe it's our lack of a scouting/analytics department. I think Gaspar was worth a shot - but no way for 400k in GAM.
