Very strong side. Perhaps start Daly and finish with Russo? Either way, 2 convincing wins is the target. Might get lucky and outclass one of the 2.
Now Millie is crocked… This team is perilously close to falling apart. Mead Kirby Bright One more pivotal player and they’re gonna be toast. Excuse all the doom and gloom.
In terms of blows Bright is the biggest followed by Kirby then Mead (Because the depth of replacements for Mead is strongest.)
I genuinely don’t know their confirmed status. Bright’s scan hasn’t been made public as far as I can see? and the Kirby issues seem to be quite hard to decipher at the best of times.
Sarina Wiegman said when she announced the squad about Fran Kirby "I am concerned. I want to keep this opportunity open. Hopefully, she gets fit, gets on the pitch again and gets playing," "You need to show form and fitness. We have less time now [than the home Euros]. It's a little concern, but also we just need to see how she progresses." Millie Bright’s injury is supposedly not serious enough to rule her out of the World Cup as she was called up initially before withdrawing.
Beth Mead in today's Telegraph: "My motivation in my rehab is to get as close to going to the World Cup as I possibly can. It gives me a target. That is still my target. I’m going to continue working hard. She [Sarina] will revisit it in May. That’s when a decision will be made." pic.twitter.com/qtQkYAS66B— miedemastuff (@miedemastuff) April 4, 2023

Wishing you a speedy recovery, @SandyMacIver_ ❤️— Lionesses (@Lionesses) April 5, 2023 Hannah Hampton got brought back at the right moment otherwise they would have called up Rachael Laws of Liverpool or promoted Fran Bentley of Bristol City from the under 23’s.

Worrying second half. Wiegman doesn’t seem to trust any of the squad CM’s. Game was crying out for energy in midfield. Is the plan at the WC to run Walsh, Stanway and Toone into the ground and hope? Zelem got dropped completely out of the squad. Would have been perfect for a cameo tonight. Nobbs, Coombs etc don’t seem to be trusted?

Poor second half. Total reversal of the first. I’ve actually seen in previous games were a little bit, not much but a little bit complacent and pedastrian at times in midfield on the ball if Walsh is marked tightly. As a result Brazil got much more into it. Deserved draw as Leah said. Stupid goal to give away and we did very well showing character in the pens. Actually , it went rather swimmingly tonight. Record in tact, another title won, severe test when playing poorly against a top outfit, won under pressure and did it on pens coming from behind in the shootout. Wiegman quietly will be very happy with that match.
Also - I’m not having Carter as an international whatsoever. Looks a decent player for Chelsea, she doesn’t belong in an England shirt. Passed backwards because she shirked ownership in her own performance to attack and go forward, constantly passing back to Greenwood must have driven Alex frustrated. I like Charles, saw her for England and she looked comfortable, but watching Carter is a heart in mouth moment every time she has the ball.
Wiegman never adapts to this. At least bring Stanway deeper next to Walsh in the system or do something. You have to expect most teams will do this in the knockout games at the WC. Bit of a worry that we don’t adapt very well to tactical opposition tweaks. She is a CB. Shouldn’t be playing as a full back. Add to this that she doesn’t get enough club games. Looks like she has zero confidence at times. LB is a worry. I would go for Charles there too.

I can’t see her being brought back unless they is a injury crisis Maybe in the autumn she should get a farewell appearance if she doesn’t. They could make the match a fundraiser for her husband’s condition.
Yeah, it’s sad but I don’t see how she gets back in. Not really even enough time for a farewell cap with the WC coming up so quickly. Greenwood, Bright and Williamson now provide enough experience. Then you need some of the athletic younger ones to be in the squad.
