Taking a highly regarded and talented player for 4 months where his public comments speak highly of the coach and training until the summer window opens is only a good thing. Think of Luuk DeJong for Barca - if your player can be the difference between a draw and a win or a draw and a loss you thank your good luck and move on.
I understand that there are people here excited or at least content with a four month middle of the season loaner. I get that it is a number of matches and every point is sacred. I'm just not a fan of this move. It doesn't help DC in the long term and he is going to be gone when we would need him the most (i.e. run into the playoffs). Maybe he does enough when he is here to get us over the playoffs line. But where does that leave us in July, when he leaves? I see a team that hopefully is playing well and has a rhythm only to lose that at the most critical part of the season. Edit: The difference between here and Spain is that a point in August counts the same for the league title as a point in May. Not so in MLS, where the league title is decided by a post-season tournament.
We have lots of injuries. He can only help. Some people here sound like they could win 200 million with a lottery ticket they found lying on the ground and complain that the gov takes half.
This is no slam dunk. He could come in, jack up whatever chemistry the team had built, then jack it up again after he’s meshed but leaves again.
Maybe, We aren't exactly a well oiled, chemistry infused machine. We are progressing into something that looks like 11 players who train together. Adding someone who is better than some of our current starting 11 isn't going to break DCU.
Depends... Do they have 6 center backs? Cause, we have 6 central midfielders with O'Brien and zero wide midfielders...
If this guy were a wide midfielder, I would be all for it regardless of the time frame he is going to be here. It is simply bringing in a potential upgrade to a position we have fully covered for a hot minute seems like a waste of time.
It's already kind of broken so fair point. I guess I don't love that he'll be leaving in the summer and then the team will have to adapt to what will probably be an integral piece moving on.
Its a really bad reflection of the leahue that someone can use this leavue for fitness and sharpness for 4 months. Its one thing if it was a world class player. Wayne in the worst team in MLS, not Wayne at Everton or Derbt.
It improves the team with a PL quality player while doing a solid for a guy who got screwed through no fault of his own, and builds relationships that can prove fruitful for the future. There also simply aren't that many players that are available, right now, at the right price, that are also willing to play here.
I’m sorry, that’s an automatic red card. Can we at least agree to never mention the words “torn anus” ever again? Ever. I mean, ever.
I think so. Some wins over the next 4 months would be nice. If nothing else it may make someone else work harder to get in the lineup.
