We are starting 3 that came on late for the first team last night, and they have 2.

good looking XI…especially when you consider they are missing Sergio and Glasgow

  9. Pretty confident performance, especially the second half. In fact, it resembled a lot of the Fire II games last year only today the Fire had the older more experienced team. Maybe they saw the need to field a few more veterans with the young players. A sour note, Vic Bezerra went off injured after falling awkwardly while shooting. Draftee Billy Hency put in a fine performance in relief of Vic, scoring the eventual match winner. USL-C vet Luka Prpa assisted twice. Goals from Kidd & Monis. A great trip to South Florida for all this weekend.

He must've been injured. I saw that Ngolo Kante was playing for Chelsea's U-21 team during the last week. Can you imagine being a U21 and see ing Kante line up against you?

He's recovered from his injury over the offseason. I'd really like for one of my journo lads to ask Ezra about why Omsberg hasn't played a single minute yet.

  12. Because Teràn is better and with 1-2 exceptions has played just fine. If he keeps it up and some Euro team comes calling for him over the summer with a $3-4 million offer he'll be gone. Also, Burks may not be as good a center back, but he fills a lot of roles along the back line (mostly poorly). Omsburg is a good player and we're good having him back up the other 2 center backs. He needs to be ready.

I have no issue with the Omsberg not starting...but Burks has no business starting or playing before Omsberg is what I am saying.

Fire 2 hosting Toronto2 at Bridgeview...on applytv thing is a decent broadcast for what it is. Fire 2 look like a fun team to watch this season. I do not know enough to say they have many that can be decent MLS'ers yet...but they are scrappy and aggressive in the 4-3-3 they are playing.

  18. Hint: Look at the top of the table. I know, we're not used to looking there.

I know nothing about the competition level of MLS NEXT Pro, but the guys they sign often seem to have pretty impressive resumes for their age

    Agreed.
If only Chicago Fire I could do more of that!

  23. Another Fire II home game, another 39th minute send off. This time it was Javier Casas Jr and this time 10 men lost to the 11 of defending league champs Crew 2 on an 88th minute goal. Lots of first team players in this one.

Strong XI tonight! Love to see us flexing in the lower side of the first team to ‘‘size up’ against one of the best academies
