You know exactly where it went. The Quakes are a for profit enterprise. I don't agree with run_it_out that income will affect roster expenditures. It won't. This isn't the best analogy as there's nobody to really sell MLB players to in the way that you can sell soccer players, but when the A's get big returns on trades, they don't then invest that money in free agents unless they are already competitive and at the tipping point of making a playoff run...and even then it's very modest compared to other teams in the league. There's really not much incentive for Fisher to spend more money on the Quakes at all as it stands. The attendance seems like it's plateaued and given ticket and concession prices, I'm confident he's generating a profit from the team, or at least operating at a low enough cost that he can just rake in the profits from the revenue sharing. Sales of players isn't going to be invested in other players. If it was, they would just spend it on the players they're selling instead of selling them. Selling players is to make profit and maybe, if we're lucky, invest in youth development.

It's a thing again...until someone's uncle shows up with it at the BBQ and kills it for another 20 years.
From "don't sell Benji for a few million dollars" to "leave Benji off the 18" in record time... Are there any lessons here? Player development rarely happens along a straight trajectory: It may not be wise to extrapolate based on a small sample size: And then of course there's the human angle of denying a player a move abroad that he wanted:
Has this ever happened in the NFL when players want to move to Europe? Oops the NFL is the only relevant handegg league in the world... So has this ever happened before in soccer when players want to be move to some Euro club and don't get the transfer they want? #NFLexplainstheworld ---> #Soccerexplainssoccer
In one thread we argue that a player couldn't possibly get a red on purpose. In another thread we argue that a player is playing bad on purpose.
Step 1. have Benji compete with Cade for his position Step 2. pay Cade six times more than Benji Step 3. continue to start Cade even after Benji has outperformed him Step 4. deny Benji a move to Europe (which could very well be a unique, life changing opportunity for him) Step 5. get mad at Benji for not playing well
Benji can go where he wants when his contract is up. Meanwhile, it's obvious he's not giving his best effort this season.
It looks like his career is getting squashed. Hopefully Luchi can figure out a solution as it will benefit everyone - including Cade who is also not living up to his potential.
I think we're all reading way too much into all this. I guess we're all sports pychologists now - in addition to our National A coaching licenses and FIFA referee badges!!!!
Benji is paying the price for CL’s decision to elevate Cade before he was ready. Quakes aren’t a team that can afford to have a top earner sitting on the bench so Cade gets chance after chance while Benji’s career has stalled, despite having earned the starting spot away from Cade for the past two seasons in a row. If the situation was being handled fairly, their roles would be reversed this year; Benji would be starting and Cade would have to earn back minutes as a sub.
