Two and a half weeks between games. Champions League dream is gone. Diaz nearing a return. If we were ever going to see us try something new this season, now would be the time to implement it. Do we stick with the 4 forwards that we used in the 2nd half against Bournemouth and again in Madrid? Do we try anything different with Trent?
hey now, since when has Suss been a mod? and how come I never got to vote on the idea??!! erm, oh - hang on. just kidding. I luv ya, man !!
https://www.planetsport.com/soccer/...ecision-reduce-ticket-allocation-etihad-clash All because some Liverpool supporter made a moonshot of a throw hitting one of Citeh's 17 fans in attendance at the Emptihad during a Carabao Cup match?
Do you know how hard it is to hit one of the 17 fans in a 45,000+ stadium? Yes, they shouldn't be throwing that, obviously.
Haaland prob out too. He has a groin issue, missed the two Norway games. If he doesn't train all this week they are unlikely to risk him and then maybe lose him for a longer period with the huge Bayern game looming 10 days later... IMO.....
Love the PL throwing chelski into the middle of this week: 4/1 - @ Corruption FC 4/4 - @ Sanctions and Firesale FC 4/9 - Arsenal We will have a good sense if our slim CL hope are gone in 1 weeks time. Win 3 - Lights are at full power Win 2 and draw 1 - Lights are on, but we may need to rely on some solar power too Win 2 and lose 1 - Lights are on but the dimmer switch is stuck on medium Win 1 draw 2 - Lights are on but are flickering nonstop Win 1 draw 1 lose 1 - Lights are on - but one is burned out Win 0, draw 2, lose 1 (or worse) - There is no power.
yep the next week is huge. Baj being out is a real concern imo. CL will be a remarkable achievement won't it. the month of April looks like this: [Note: this ignores Brighton, which is pretty dangerous these days. I'm hoping they'll drop off and their Cup SF will be a big distraction, BUT they can go above us by 3 pts if they win their GIH and their remaining PL games are probably the easiest run of the current top 7] Spurs - 49 pts - 6 games (Bitters, Brighton, Bmouth, Newcy, MU, LFC) - then 4 to play in May (CP, AV, Brentford, Leeds) Newcy - 47pts - 7 games (MU, WH, Brentford, AV, Spurs, Bitters, Soton) - then 5 to play in May (Arse, Leeds, LC, Cheats) LFC - 42 pts - 7 games (MC, Cheats, Arse, Leeds, Forest, WH, Spurs) - then 5 left to play in May (Fulham, Brentford, LC, AV, Soton)
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland missed training today and must now be considered a doubt for Saturday's match at home to Liverpool. The Premier League's leading goal scorer was forced to withdraw from international duty after picking up a groin injury in the FA Cup win over Burnley.
do we play well first game after an international break? nope. do we play well in early-kickoff games? nope. do we play well away from home this season? nope. .... sigh .....
I had a similar feeling when facing the Manure Pile. Perhaps that’s an omen. Or I’m constipated again
Diaz won't be in the squad tomorrow. Nunez will be, maybe on bench to start. And - wow - the Blobfish might in fact play!
Off to England this evening - hoping to find a pub for this and Chelski in London (that's convenient). Then to Anfield for the Arse game. What a bad season to decide to visit - haha.
From the LFCNY email about this game: We all know the kind of football club Manchester City is. When Sheik Mansour arrived on the scene in 2008, they were nowhere; a team that's most recent success was winning the 2001-02 Championship and proceeding to stay up in the PL as a lower midtable side that wasn't allergic to a relegation scrap. The arrival of Abu Dhabi into football, a move hastened by the PL's acceptance of Roman Abramovic's blood money, is a hall mark moment. It became clear that "plucky upstarts" could challenge the traditional "top four". Shortly thereafter, Robinho, Elano, Roque Santa-Cruz, Edin Dzeko, David Silva, Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Company, Kun Aguero, both Kolo and Yaya and countless others were through the door. The finances of world football were truly turned on its head. In the background, calls for greater transparency into the finances of football clubs were called for. These rules weren't designed to deter people like City, they were designed to stop clubs like Leeds and Rangers from going under. Still, FFP needed to apply to all. City cynically decided though that they were above the law and UEFA's treatment of them (kid gloves) suggests that they were. Enter the Premier League. 115 counts of financial irregularities. The thing to note is that City's charges are not simple procedural breaches. They're allegations of wide ranging systemic fraud. Sponsors that don't exist, crudely disguising revenues as commercial when they're just owner funding. When you have unlimited money, the hardest thing to do is spend it, eh? Let's be clear on this: Jurgen Klopp's Reds stood toe to toe with this and surpassed it. The reason Liverpool only have one PL title is not that we didn't spend enough in certain summers. City cheated us. They cheated everyone. Jurgen's Reds are the best side the PL has ever seen, why, because they beat the peak of a systemic cheating operation. We always will get the memory of Jurgen lifting big ears and it meaning something, because it does. It was a triumph of spirit and a triumph of every force engaged with the club, the holy trinity (The Manager, the Players and the Supporters) convened as one. When we do that, we're unbeatable. They'll never have that. City might win more leagues, they might win in Europe eventually. They might be crowned world champions. It's all hollow. No one has ever bought a soul (ok, not entirely true, Milhouse did buy Bart's soul but I digress). "If you want special results, you have to feel special things and do special things together. You can speak about spirit, or you can live it."
