yeah he's done. But I actually think the "injury" is a smokescreen - where Klopp already told him he won't play again after getting hooked at halftime of whatever game that was.
Liverpool winger Luis Diaz will make his return from injury against Leeds at Elland Road on 17 April, says manager Jurgen Klopp. Diaz, 26, has been out since October with a knee problem. The Colombia international has resumed full training but is unlikely to be risked against Arsenal on Sunday. "Again, it looks good, everything is fine, but it was a long, long injury and so we have to be careful," said Klopp. "The plan with Luis is that he will be available 100% for Leeds. We will probably not involve him for Sunday."
Roberto Firmino is set to miss Liverpool’s next three games due to a muscle injury. https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/ro...luKIwmRaOX5ikZQlM3EJ9Jwwuz2DIaJZl9l2PjC3OtA0Q
Konate's withdrawal from the squad to face West Ham was a concern, therefore, and before the game Klopp told BT Sport that it came after “little niggles” in previous weeks. “If this was the last game of the season he probably would have been available,” he said, “but now we have to make sure we don’t have to push the boys.” This could have suggested a wider concern for Konate, but in his post-match press conference Klopp allayed fears of any layoff. “Ibou could have played,” he elaborated. He’s not injured, but in the last two, three weeks he always had to rest two days, one day, then half a session and stuff like this. “I thought now we have to make sure that he can recover properly so he doesn’t get injured. That’s why we left him completely at home. That’s it pretty much.”
I'm guessing that Klopp was more worried about having Konate on the field to match Son's breaking pace at Anfield this weekend.....
Jurgen Klopp updated us on who is fit and available to play against Tottenham in Sunday’s Premier League clash at Anfield. Having missed the Reds’ trip to West Ham with injury, Klopp said Ibrahima Konate “will be back.” Unfortunately, Diogo Jota “got a knock in his back” on Wednesday “but should be alright” for Sunday, said the manager.
I still wouldn;t want him (or that guy Mane - also having a rough year!) running into a high line space where Trent isn't even there.. and being chased off by Joel!!
Having only just return from a two-month injury lay-off last month, hearts sank when Thiago Alcantara’s name was absent from the Liverpool teamsheet against Spurs. The Spaniard wasn’t pictured in training on Friday, but other than that there had been no suggestion he wouldn’t take part in Sunday’s game. Jurgen Klopp didn’t mention the midfielder when offering an injury update before the game, and wasn’t quizzed about his absence afterwards either. As a result, we’ll have to wait until Tuesday’s press conference before the Reds’ clash with Fulham to obtain an update on Thiago’s fitness. However, the 32-year-old was spotted limping as he took his seat in the dugout prior to kick-off at Anfield, and again when walking through the mixed zone after the final whistle.
In shocking news to NO ONE: Thiago is likely out for the rest of the season.** ----- Tips is right here - I've done a 180 and agree (see - it's not as hard as it looks to admit you are wrong) - get rid of him this summer - and take the 20M (fee + savings) and spend it one someone who is available at least 80% of the time. **rumor - but when have they been wrong about Thiago and injury.
Yup. Thiago's a total luxury player. Brilliant when fit but rarely fit and he's at the age where its just going to get progressively worse. Get what we can for him and move on.
He's a fantastic player and though his injury issues always made signing him risky I think he was worth the effort but now at his age and as we're in a rebuild it's probably a good time to sell.
keep him for one more year. give him a few minutes late in games now and then, but tell him his main job is to help coach / develop Baj. if Baj can get (even) better, it'd be well worth a year of Thiago's salary.
Can Thiago's vision, anticipation and movement (when he's fit) be taught / coached? That's my only question here.
dunno mate. I really don't know how anyone can "teach" a top player to be a top-top player. tbh my Thiago idea isn't 100% serious - more "in an ideal world" kind of thing. but Klopp has decided to keep Millie around (up till now) for his leadership / intangibles. so who knows?
I think guys like Thiago , Virgil and even Milner can pass on many aspects of their game to younger players who are able to watch how they operate both in games and training. Nothing like learning from the best.
