Despite being 1-0 up Chelsea women loose the league cup 1-3 to Arsenal. The writing was on the wall last week when Chelsea knocked Arsenal out of the FA cup despite being outplayed.

They have been outplayed every time they've faced Arsenal this season.

Substitutes from: Berger, Eriksson, Périsset, Abdullina, Charles, Ingle, James, Claypole

What a great performance in a tense game that could be the difference in the title race. Sam Kerr is the best striker on earth. Kaneryd was very good off the bench. We’re doing this with no Harder, little Kirby, missing little Scottish terror in the midfield today as well. So good.

The amount of times this team goes on to win a game where they have, for large parts of the game, looked '2nd best' is astonishing! Something to do with a never say die attitude perhaps? Whatever it is it needs to be bottled and sent over to the men's dressing room!

What a win in Lyon! Is Guro not one of the worlds most unsung great players?

Chelsea women beat current champions Lyon on penalties after an exciting game at Stamford bridge, having gained a draw in extra time with a penalty which was the last kick.

The penalty was awarded after a VAR review. Lots of shithousery by the Lyon players but Mjelda holds her nerve. She then goes on to score the first penalty of the shootout.

Berger makes two saves in the shootout

Now it's Barcelona in the semi final

Chelsea women could beat the men's team at the moment, currently drawing 1-1 with Liverpool. This is the replay of the game called off after 10 minutes earlier in the season. At the time Emma Hayes promised an hot dog to everyone that turned up. Club does not normally sell hot dogs so they had to lay on a special delivery.

    At the half it's 1-1

The game is live on BBC3 in England and steaming world wide on the FA player

A point off the leaders, with a game in hand. A proper manager. Great team spirit.

Not for the first time this season the women come out on top despite being 2nd best in the game, they are the polar opposite of the mens team who, for a vast amount of this season, dominated games yet ended up losing! It's bizarre when you think about it! Anyway this (womens) team is dogged, determined and hard to beat, oh and also more often than not (if not always) dominating. A sign of a good team is winning when you're playing badly so this must be a very good team.

    Well deserved, well done ladies.

I think we’re really going to miss Harder next year. She seem to really click when she’s in the line-up.

Womens football is starting to 'take off' a bit here, until the home Euro Championships you'd have been hard pressed to find anybody in the country that had heard of ANY English womens footballer, in fact its started to 'grow' quite a bit across the European continent and for that reason I think that in future seasons success is not going to be quite so easy to come by. Next season will be harder.
