Scored a forwards goal. Translate at any level with requisite service. Probably going to PSV next season if his Bundesliga club doesn't force him to play for them.
Kane has great movement. All the elite strikers do. He knows where to be, and that's mostly what goalscoring is all about.
Jesus H. Yup, that is what Kane‘s game is all about for FK’s sake. Isn‘t it? Another pseudo europhile you are responding to with no clue what matters. Good grief.
This suggests a weakness in the xG stat, no? Because there are a lot of situations where a goal seems likely but the final touch never happens.
- I dont watch EPL. Any time I have watched Kane, havent been uber impressed. he did nothing vs USMNT in qatar - looked totally pedestrian in that match. Kane seems to put up stats from his transfermarkt - but how many trophies does he have? he is good compared to any rando professional - but is he good on a WC level?? ..... let me know next time tottenham or england win anything with him as their starting striker. from the highlghts i have seen of balogun, I prefer him to Kane. his style is more effective, imo
I think the thing is it’s not a perfect statistic. But it’s generally a poor sign if a player scores a ton of goals but they are very much over-performing their xG that’s a usually a sign that they will likely come back down to earth.
A little bit, yeah. I think that type of thing is why single-game xG can be deceptive, but over the course of the season you'd expect, say, the forward to catch up more often than not to the ball rolling invitingly across the face of goal.
Folarin Balogun looks set to switch allegiances to the United States men's national team after spending part of the international break in Orlando https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/fol...land-nigeria-orlando-trip/blte2315a44c5b40c66
Good comment. My thoughts about Sancho differed. He came into Dortmund on fire and earned himself a place and contributed to CP's displacement from the lineup. But in the last season and a half, his performance diminished. He controlled the ball well and was a good team player, but did not make nearly as many commanding performances as he did initially. It was for that reason that I was against his move to ManU. As a fan of ManU, I thought his form had changed to such a degree that he could not bring his best to the club. So fart, I've been correct, but he may prove me wrong under ten Hag's guidance.
https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/ba...t-too-late-for-usmnt-20230329-WST-425773.html welp Balogun is meeting now with England - so nothing seems decided - perhaps he was using the trip to the USA to light a fire under England all along - i'm sure England will tell him what he wants to hear..... I think this is far from decided.....
There's nothing in there that you didn't know already. I now think it's a done deal persoanlly, it has to be, the unfollowing of England accounts and deleting his England images would be very childish otherwise.
The fact that England is sending its U-21 coach to meet with Balogun is the most telling part of this. If they were really serious about keeping him, Southgate would go. The whole reason why Balogun is thinking about leaving England is because he's with the U-21 team as opposed to the main team, and now England is sending its U-21 coach to try to keep him?
so Hudson - acting USMNT senior coach - meets with Balogun and he socializes with US players in Orlando .... Lee Carsley (U21 coach) just like you said - talks to the BBC about the situation ... https://sbisoccer.com/2023/03/engla...o-convince-folarin-balogun-for-permanent-stay he could always go with England ... but fact is that he is behind Nketiah and Kane and Rashford .... the US is at home for the big dance in 2026 and Flo has a strong chance to be "the man" on the worlds biggest stage .... and to play with all the US young guns. He frankly can have the best of both worlds - possibly come back to Arsenal to enjoy life in London - while travelling across the pond to play for the US and enjoy all the US sports and other cultural aspects.
I'm not actually sure he was at fault, but some of the England fans also blame the U21 coach for losing Musiala. I'm not sure why Southgate is being so indifferent about the situation. He doesn't have to promise the guy a call up, but there are still ways of making sure he feels valued.
I think he's relaxed partly because he just doesn't rate him, and if he was willing to stick to his principles with Musiala then he's definitely not going to bend for Balogun.
I would like to think anyone scoring 20 goals a season (or on pace to) in one of Europe’s big 5 leagues could or should have access to the head coach of his national team. For elite soccer nations, that still might not be enough to get you on the national team but it should be enough where you can talk to your national team coach and get a straight answer. I could see Brazil or Argentina’s head coach keeping tabs on a 21 year old who has 17 goals in 27 games for a Ligue 1 team. Maybe it’s not enough for a call-up, but I’d imagine the dialogue would be there. I could see Balogun getting upset that he’s not getting a clear picture where he stands
