well i thought about that and it is the narrative that is pushed in the media so it could be easy to adopt. but then i thought about it some more. look how the US treats black folk and other minorities, likewise the English as the worst colonisers no less. so are Ratcliffe or one of these minority stake consortiums really any better if we apply that rationale all round? or put it this way - who is your ideal owner then? or at least one you can stomach? this Finnish person that has emerged as an investor?
The fact that £5.5b isn't enough for the Glazers to sell the goose that's laid them golden eggs for 18 years, despite their mismanagement, is incredibly greedy. I hope the fans cancel their season tickets in protest if they remain in charge. Better? Clearer?
I think they do sell when it becomes clear they can't get better than those on the table. It just needs time for them to really see that, which why I figured it may take more than a year. I can't see them keeping hold with some minority investor saving the day. I think it's naive on their part to believe ten Hag stays long term with them. Same goes for FSG. Both he and Klopp will end up leaving if they don't feel the owners are making the necessary investments. If Qatar doesn't get United, why not buy a club like Leeds? They might be able to sign Haaland too if they did and poach ten Hag or Klopp. If I were in their shoes, I'd tell that to the Glazers. Ratcliffe doesn't need to buy United at that price. He can buy Oldham. He can buy a club in a lower division and relocate to Manchester if he really wants. It might not be Manchester United, but it might become the club of the people of Manchester.
To my mind the valuation is way too high. Boehly paid way too much for Chelsea in a frothy deal - and now we are way out of the ZIRP environment where you could get loads of financing at close to 0% How could a buyer make any kind of return at $6bn compared to other things they can do with the money? It only makes sense if you see it as a platform for some other kind of vertical integration of brands like has happened at city Personally I wonder if this ends up more like Barca where bits of the club get sold off to private equity
Anyone watch the interview with Zillacus on the United Stand with Beth? He had some good points I would love to see if they could be developed. Won't say much now until more of you have watched...
Apparently, the outlet that reported the Todd Boehly agreement with Chelsea are saying the 2nd Qatari bid is worth 6 bil, which is the Glazers evaluation. Will be interesting to see what happens from here and if they’re actually serious about selling.
This is a vanity purchase. Absolutely. An asset like United rarely comes onto the market. The eventual winner will be less concerned with traditional ROI in my opinion. Otherwise, I don't think a sale completes. I'd say the Qatari bid is likely best placed fir this very reasom.
The Premier League just passed the most obviously biased rule set in their history. They just added strict new rules against new owners of PL teams that gives the league and other clubs the right to disqualify prospective owners based on humans rights violations, tax fraud, and various other items. This conveniently doesn’t apply to City or Newcastle existing ownership but is specifically put forth to block our potential new owners. League is a ********ing joke.
They also allowed this ********ery LBO in the first place despite their oversight committee or whatever. So F them.

The trajectory we have been on under the Glazers is kinda scary … Manchester United: Premier League club owe almost £1bn, reveal new figures https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65131177
That EPL announcement is interesting. Do certain people want Sir Jim to win? Maybe they'll take things a step further and push the Glazers to sell like what was done to Abramovich? There is a potential avenue for that if the FA clamps down on the kind of debts problems faced by Everton.
I don’t think other clubs want Ratcliffe to win necessarily. I just think they want to avoid a club with our popularity and revenue getting financial backing on the scale of a Man City because it makes the harder for the rest to compete.
🚨 Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are through to ROUND 3(!!) of bidding to buy Manchester United. How many more rounds? Nobody knows. The saga continues. 🥱(Source: @talkSPORT / @alex_crook)— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) April 11, 2023
So basically in a story that should surprise nobody familiar with the Glazers, they’re managing to completely ******** this up along with everything else they’ve done.
And yet...chances are they will get within 10% of that price when it's all said and done, if not better. It might be unreasonable, but I don't think it's unrealistic. This is a vanity purchase and I don't see another MUFC on the market.
