They're citing MLS Transfers, who has next to no cred. So take it with a grain of salt.

Standard could not pay the required fee in all likelihood. Only once have they paid around 7m or higher. Cincy already turned down that amount (iirc) from Chivas.

You have to figure either this rumor was pulled out of his butt, or it's superficial interest, in that anybody can be interested in anybody. I'm interested in Vazquez playing full-time for my rec team.

But Augsburg paid 20m for Pepi. So who knows for sure. It'd still probably be rejected if a legit offer came because the allure of rando Belgium is not the same as the BL. The clubs in inter-league in 2nd rate leagues would be the floor, otherwise top 5.

It would be nice to have a forward in Belgium. Standard has the former NYCFC manager, who has seen Vasquez play.

It is a blue collar city with a very passionate group of supporters. But I do not know if they have that much money to spend.

I don't know why this thread still exists, but in any case... Regarding possible interest from Liege, I looked up their record transfer fees paid, per transfermarkt. 11.74M Euros 3.5 years ago. Beyond that, there's nothing approaching a figure that seems in line with what Cincy might be willing to accept. It's possible, but not likely, that they'd make an offer that would be accepted. Of course, that said, there's been a lot of deals over the last several years where the sale price is relatively low but the sell-on percentage is high (especially out of MLS). At the same time Vazquez is 24 so Liege (or any other club) offering, say $5M with a 50% sell-on clause seems like a bigger risk to Cincinnati than to the buying club. Hence, I think no deal would be reached. I think someone's gotta offer at least $10M outright, maybe with a small sell-on, to get him.

    German interest?

#Borussia : According to #Sky info, Roland Virkus was out in the US during the international break to watch Cincinnati FC striker Brandon #Vazquez as a possible Thuram successor. This scored the 1-0 winner against Nashville SC. Contract in the #MLS until 2025. Discussions are ongoing with the player's management. In 2022 he played 33 times in MLS (18 goals/8 assists)

Cincinnati won't sell him for cheap. That's a lot of goals they have to replace.

If I’m Cincinnati, I wouldn’t sell for less than $15M.

He’s got the stats now. He’s a physical presence. He’s hard working. He seems like a good teammate. He’s young. And he plays a position that’s hard to replicate.

If I’m Gladbach, and if I was financially in a position to do so, I would spend that money because Vazquez could become a very legitimate Bundesliga striker.

It’s 1st world problems for FCC. They have two strikers - Brenner and Vasquez - they can and will eventually sell for a very nice chunk of money. They are pissing away a season if they sell both in the same window without an equivalent waiting in the wings to be purchased. Sergio Santos and Dom Badji aren’t going to lead you to the playoffs. So the question becomes…. who do you sell first? It’s a tough decision. There are lots of factors to be involved. All Vasquez can do is put his head down and do what he does best…. Score goals.

All he needs is one game in either Nations League or Gold Cup and he's eligible for a work permit too. I'm sure are English clubs who would be interested who would move the price up.

Though there were no MLS players other than Miles Robinson there for a reason.

But some of these games are definitely opportunities to get guys the cap they need to be work permit eligible.

It's definitely not but that's where the most money to pay a transfer fee exists, and our guys are invariably going to favor going there for a variety of reasons.

If the forward does eventually make a move to Europe, it likely won't be in this summer's transfer window. In a similar manner to his willingness to do more in a supporting role on the field, the same could be said of his off-the-field intentions.

"I've had those talks with Cincinnati," Vazquez said. "With Brenner leaving this summer (to Serie A's Udinese), it's pretty hard to find a replacement, and to just find a replacement for both of us if I was to leave, and Cincinnati doesn't want me to go just yet.

"I thought if I stay in Cincinnati, it'll give me the fastest route and best route to get to Europe."

Patiently anticipating the next major leap across borders and into the elite world of international soccer, and with the Gold Cup around the corner as a possible catalyst, Vazquez could soon get his wish.

He def needs a move if he wants to compete with the likes of Balogun, Pepi and Sargent.

Would be a lot of fun to follow Vazquez at BMG. Hopefully this summer but if not, hopefully in January.
