Not sure why Weston McKennie's friend would know much about progress with the sporting director search, given that McKennie himself probably knows very little about it.
Didn't mean to imply this. Coaches will still recruit but the player will look to see what they think their odds will be to get playing time. If you're a left footed fullback or striker you would think your chances are a lot better than if you are a winger or goalie per se.
https://www.espn.com/soccer/united-...why-the-delay-usmnt-coach-search?platform=amp No additional names leaked, just that’s Sportsology has completed their work and USSF is currently in the second round of interviews.
Batson is fairly new and I don’t have particularly strong feelings on Cone. I’m in wait and see mode as to how long it takes for them to hire someone, who they hire, and who the other candidates are. Unfortunately it’s unlikely we are going to be able to get a candidate the level of Earnie Stewart.
I would just love to hear they reached out to Bierhof and others similar. Even if they said no at least I'd feel they are swinging. Instead I feel like they're still in the parking lot getting their bat bag and messing with their glove....
There’s definitely candidates they’ve reached out to and who they are interviewing who we are not aware of. Once someone is hired it’s likely we’ll get some insight on that from someone like the Athletic. For now hard to judge without having more information.
🚨🥇| Julian Araújo is NOT adapting well at Barça. He is having difficulties in understanding the positional game, especially since he is not playing. [@bonagerman] #fcblive pic.twitter.com/2TEuRTXFwK— BarçaTimes (@BarcaTimes) March 28, 2023 Barcelona turns on their own players so fast. If you have one or two bad trainings, there’s going to be some coach or player talking to the press about how badly you’re doing.Give the guy a break and give it a rest. https://t.co/cRIFXCZ5iW— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) March 29, 2023 popcorn.gif
I'm going to be really petty and say that if Julian had kept around with the USMNT he would have a much bigger chance of learning positional play.
Berhalter LOVED Araujo. He probably would have gone to the WC, taking Shaq Moore's spot had he accepted the Gold Cup call-up. So there's probably some truth to this statement.

Back in the day, that's all there was! There was this one dude from England who used to work at NASA that left to devote his time to write for them about early 2000s MLS.
The Araujo move to Barca has never made any sense to me. I don't get it. Sergino Dest started successfully for friggin' Ajax, and he was deemed surplus to requirements at Barcelona. There's something else going on. LIke how Chelsea acquired Matt Miazga because they wanted inside track on another client of Miazga's agent. They worked out a package deal. Who ever watched Miazga for NYRB and thought he was good enough for Chelsea? Who ever watched Araujo at LAG and thought he was good enough for Barca?
Barcelona seemed like too big a jump too quickly. He probably would have been better off going somewhere else in La Liga first as opposed to a team like Barcelona. The Galaxy only sold him for $4 million so it's not like others would have struggled to afford him. But I'm also not a fan of a player whose starting regularly going to another club so he can play on the B team.
With Balogun committed to USA, we need only one more dual nat, who grew up and learned soccer in Europe, to make the team 50% European, and counting.
