Hi All, just created a private league on the official MLS website fantasy page for 8 teams maximum called: MLS All-Rockstars. The league code is E3RYTF4L. For those interested please join this league soon so we can hopefully have all 8 teams from All-Rocks. I’ll need to open it to public if we have less than 8 teams, not a problem if that’s the case but would be preferred if the league is solely All-Rocks. Thanks and hope to see you there!

Not to be ungrateful for perhaps avoiding yet another wooden spoon, but Salah could have not done this once last game week

still very tempted, hope this is not a one off aberration, he does look like he has lost a quarter step of pace this season or he just heard I drafted him and had it in for me since I called him names for joining Liverpool

With all due respect and then some to all the Liverpool supporters who play in our League and have proved to be fine pleasant gentlemen:cautious::D:

I did not think it was possible for me to loath Liverpool Football Club any more then I already did before the season, but between Captain Salah, except for last week , going to get me relegated, and not being able to enjoy the unbridled joy of a Liverpool bad outing...

I'm going to wait until after GW29 to due the "3rd quarter" update on the standings, as it mathematically falls at 28.5....

In the meantime, I was looking at the original draft board and spotted all of the nuggets that were grabbed in round 7. There are still 10 GWs to go, so things could change, but aside from round 1, round 7 is the only other round that I found that had SIX players who have over 100 points through 28 gameweeks. Comparing these two rounds:

    The 6 top-performing picks from the round 1 have scored 889 points combined so far (1.1 Salah (154), 1.2 KDB (129), 1.3 Haaland (203), 1.4 Kane (182), 1.5 Son (102), and 1.8 Fernandes (119))....

    While the 6 top-performing picks from round 7 have 807 so far, (7.1 Barnes (102), 7.2 Watkins (115), 7.3 Rashford (156), 7.6 Odegaard (153), 7.7 Trippier (154), and 7.8 Trossard (127)....

It's not as close between the rounds 1 and 7 if the lowest two scorers are included, as round 1 had 1.6 TAA (96) and 1.7 Jesus (71) and round 7 had 7.4 Antonio (53) and 7.5 Calvert Lewin (25), but I was only counting 100+ and it seemed fair enough to drop the two lowest scorers. In any event, it stood out how all of these very solid 100+ picks were clustered together in the middle of the draft in round 7!

In terms getting to 100 points so far in other rounds,
    --Round 2 had 1 player -- Maddison (105),
    --Round 3 had 2 players -- Foden (109), Saka (170),
    --Round 4 had 2 players -- Martinelli (157), Allison (119),
    --Round 5 had none, and
    --Round 6 had 2 players -- Toney (145), Ward-Prowse (105)....

    Well done in round 7!

Note: In these two critical rounds, I failed completely, getting the 6th best from round 1 and the 8th best in round 7 when the rest of you were picking up gems....

Halfheartedly tried to look at old threads to find out, but admittedly not too hard...
Are we allowed to use the chips (triple captain and bench boost) with our draft teams? I think we are, but wanted to make sure. Obviously the free hit doesn't work for a draft team. Thanks!

You have it right. Yes to triple captain and bench boost. No to the free hit.

It is not currently allowed, BUT I remain a minority (or perhaps even the sole) proponent of draft-league free hit!!!

In order to use it, you would have to announce free hit with your first transfer that week, and then rather than losing the players you drop, they would go on the equivalent of a one-week injured reserve, no one else could pick them up, and then they are back in your active roster the next week. Players picked up by someone using free hit can't be picked up by anyone that GW, but they would then be available as soon as the next GW begins.

Perhaps a small advantage to the person who declares free hit first, and it may be that most would decide not to free hit in a given GW if one or two others have already used it that week to begin grabbing up players.

It would be a little difficult to track--which is why it would be important for it to be declared immediately--but it can only happen 8 times (once per team) during a season, so it is doable. Free hit would be a nice fix for those occasions when you're bungled by short term injuries or have too many players without a game or what not or you just want to take a flyer without losing your players for a short term play.

I would be for it as long as you are only allowed to pick free agents, not borrow ie a 2nd Haaland, though I would encourage borrowing a 2nd to 8th Salah most weeks.

With the completion of GW29, we have passed the 3/4 mark of the season. While Glorydaze had moved ahead of Top Shelf after Saturday's game and held the lead through the completion of Sunday's and Tuesday's games, Top Shelf rallied on Wednesday with 40 points from 3 players (including captain) to hold onto first! For now!

    1.Top Shelf......... 1542(567)(--)
    --- [534(1) // 975(1)(441)]
    2.Glorydaze........ 1526(614)(--)
    --- [505(2) // 912(2)(407)]
    3.dawgs.............. 1422(587)(+1)
    --- [416(5) // 835(4)(419)]
    4.FCSP............... 1376(496)(-1)
    --- [479(3) // 880(3)(401)]
    5.Keysersoze..... 1360(575)(+1)
    --- [419(4) // 785(6)(366)]
    6.Journeymen.... 1331(528)(-1)
    --- [378(7) // 803(5)(425)]
    7.Tangers........... 1259(524)(+1)
    --- [348(8) // 735(8)(387)]
    8.ColdDogSoup.. 1219(438)(-1)
    --- [381(6) // 781(7)(400)]

A lot of numbers here. To break them down:

First # is current overall score, with teams in order of their current rank.

Second # is each team's score during GWs 20-29 (since the last update).

Next # is each team's rise or fall in the ranking since GW19. 3&4, 5&6, and 7&8 all flipped spots. Only 1&2 were unchanged, and as noted above, that was only because of Wednesday's massive scores for Top Shelf.

The brackets in the second row for each team then repeat the previously posted scores and ranking from the GWs 1-10 and GWs 11-19:
First number was each team's score at the end of GW10.
Second number was each team's rank at the end of GW10.
Next number was each team's score at the end of GW19.
Next number was each team's rank at the end of GW19.
Last number was each team's score during Q2, the GW11-19 period.

Note(1): In comparing the scores from the first quarter, second quarter, and third quarter, Q1 was 10 gameweeks (1-10), but was really only 9 since there was the GW with no games, while Q2 was 9 gameweeks (11-19). By contrast, Q3 was 10 gameweeks (20-29), so it includes an additional gameweek, and then it also included a couple of double gameweeks as we are making up that missed week and the usual shuffle. As a result, particularly after the strong scoring across the board in GW29, it is not surprising to see everyone with higher scores during Q3. That said, even taking into account an extra gameweek, Glorydaze's 614 points in Q3 surpasses the impressive 534 that Top Shelf put up in Q1 even when adjusted for 10 vs 9 gameweeks. Both of those runs were off the charts to be in the 60 points/gameweek range!

Note(2): While the gap between the high and low in Q2 was only 85 points (high of 441 to low of 366), the gap between the high and low was almost 200 points in both Q1 and Q3. It was 186 points in Q1 with a high of 534 to a low of 348 and 176 points in Q3 with a high of 614 to a low of 438. So, if the stars align, someone may still catch those frontrunners and also any number of us could still fall into the relegation zone......

    9 gameweeks to go.....

Note: Top Shelf was working some wily psychological banter here. On the next day after this quasi-concession speech, Top Shelf punched back with 10*2 from Captain Rashford, 7 from Varane, 13 from Wilson, and 6 from Buendia. A healthy 95 points in a week that Haaland didn't play to hold.

The slim lead of 16 points over Glorydaze is the closest that it has been since Top Shelf held only a 9-point lead back in GW8, and extends Top Shelf's run at the top of the leaderboard from when he retook the first position in GW5.

Prior to that, Glorydaze had 3 weeks at the top (GW2-4), and prior to that, we saw Top Shelf share the #1 spot with ColdDogSoup at the end of GW1. [Yes, it was shared with 79 points in GW1, but Lobo did lead the league at one point this season!]

As I think did last year, in addition to the quarterly summaries, I'm splitting the final quarter into thirds, and will provide updates every 3 GWs. This one includes GWs 30, 31, & 32. The starting number before the team name shows where each team was in the rankings at the end of gw29, and then the numbers after the team name are (a) the team's points at the end of GW29, (b) the team's points in GW30-32, and (c) the team's current total.

    2.Glorydaze........ 1526+188=1714
    1.Top Shelf......... 1542+109=1651
    3.dawgs.............. 1422+191=1613
    4.FCSP............... 1376+99=1475
    6.Journeymen.... 1331+137=1468
    5.Keysersoze..... 1360+76=1436
    7.Tangers........... 1259+92=1351
    8.ColdDogSoup.. 1219+106=1325

Glorydaze and dawgs scored very well in 30-32. Glorydaze took over the 1st position in gw30, ending Top Shelf's run at the top at 25 consecutive weeks, and Gdaze has proceeded to open up a gap of 63. Top Shelf will need to reverse things quickly, and while Top Shelf struggled in gw32 with many players not playing, all of those players should have double GWs coming, and captain Haaland on a double GW is a scary thought for all of us non-Haaland owners.... However, with the dawgs also on a nice run at the moment, Top Shelf needs to look behind while looking ahead as even second place could now be in play.

Further down the table, Journeymen and Keysersoze swapped spots, with Journeymen having the third highest score during the 3-week period, while Keysersoze hit a serious dry spell for this look in. 85 and 111 points now separate Keysersoze from the drop zone and Keysersoze needs to get back on course quickly. Those are still a lot of points to make up with only 6 GWs left, but it's still giving Tangers and CDS hope!

Next update should be after GWs 33, 34, and 35....

    After GW35..... (pts through gw29 +gw30-32 + gw33-35 = current total)

    2.Glorydaze........ 1526+188+145=1859
    1.Top Shelf......... 1542+109+196=1847
    3.dawgs.............. 1422+191+137=1750
    6.Journeymen.... 1331+137+187=1655
    4.FCSP............... 1376+99+166=1641
    5.Keysersoze..... 1360+76+138=1574
    7.Tangers........... 1259+92+151=1502
    8.ColdDogSoup.. 1219+106+171=1496

Since the g32 update, the only actual move in the standings was Journeymen and FCSP swapping places, but Top Shelf has sent a reminder to Glorydaze that it will be a race to the finish with just 12 points separating the two leaders and some points at the bottom of the table continue to try to keep hope alive for a late relegation battle.

The top teams in gw30-32 (dawgs and gdaze) end up 8th and 6th in gw33-35 while Top Shelf, Journeymen, and Cold Dog Soup take the top 3 spots in gw33-35.

As for whether Tangers or Cold Dog Soup can close the gap of 72 and 78 to Keysersoze, it will require one or both to be top notch and for KW to end near the bottom in the final 3 weeks. The gap from top to bottom was 115 in gw30-32, while it was only 59 in gw33-35, so certainly mathematically possible but also quite difficult with only 3 GWs to go. There are still some double gameweek options to go, as well as some chips floating around.

    GW36 is in the books.

At the top, Top Shelf (90) and Glorydaze (56) flip spots in the race for the title. It ends a 6-GW run in the lead for Glorydaze (gws 30-35, in addition to 2-4 early in the season). With 2 GWs to spare, both teams have passed the magical 1900 mark (an average of over 50/GW) that typically assures a top 3 division finish:

    1. Top Shelf --- 1937
    2. Glorydaze -- 1915

And, at the bottom, Keysersoze (63), Tangers (98), and ColdDogSoup (63) see the relegation race tighten:

    6. Keysersoze --- 1637
    7. Tangers -------- 1600
    8. CDS ------------ 1559

With just 37 points now separating 6 and 7, Keysersoze is in the thick of it with Tangers seeing a true glimmer of light ahead. Lobo has vowed to keep battling until the last whistle blows, but closing a 78-point difference in 2 GWs may be too much to ask, or to hope for.

And, if you didn't see it, the Small Rocks Cup kicked off in GW36:
    Glorydaze - 56
    dawgs ------ 75

    Journeymen -- 47
    ColdDogSoup-- 63

    Keysersoze --- 63
    Tangers -------- 98

    FCSP ---------- 65
    Top Shelf ------ 90

GW37 matchups for the semis are not yet posted.....

Unfortunately in terms of excitement, GW37 had a couple of Olympic level performances that built leads that appear likely to have ended the remaining races.

At the top, Top Shelf grabs a silver medal while Glorydaze stumbles, which leaves a gap of 62 points between 1st and 2nd.

And, at the relegation line, Keysersoze grabs the gold medal, with Tangers coming in with an average score. After dropping close to the relegation line, Keysersoze now sits 64 points clear.

A 60+ point differential in one GW would be massive, but let's see how it plays on Sunday.... ColdDogSoup trails KW by 94, but Lobo has still not given up and was seen coming out of a pub this morning with his old pal wiggum mumbling that anything is possible.....

For the Small Rocks CUP, the GW37 Semis were:

    ColdDogSoupFC ---- 67
    Top Shelf -------------- 75**

    Tangers FC ------------ 56**
    blechs_dawgs -------- 51

Unfortunate matchup pairings for CDS (this is what sent him to the pub in the first place), and it was an early celebration for Tangers in the GW's final game when the dawgs had captain Shaw exit at halftime with some back injury..... It's 1 vs 7 in the finals! Good luck!

If you didn't check, the final of the Small Rocks auto-Cup on the system was:
    Top Shelf ----- 24
    Tangers FC -- 30

Yes, those were two lowest scores in Small in GW38 but your score didn't matter if you didn't get to the final! Congrats to Tangers on a nice piece of silverware in an otherwise difficult season!

I don't know if anyone really cares about these quarterly breakdowns now that we're done, but here it is:

    1.Top Shelf......... 2036 [534+441+567+494]
    2.Glorydaze........ 2021 [505+407+614+495]
    3.dawgs.............. 1922 [416+419+587+500]
    4.FCSP............... 1833 [479+401+496+457]
    6.Journeymen.... 1797 [378+425+528+466]
    5.Keysersoze..... 1776 [419+366+575+416]
    7.Tangers........... 1686 [348+387+524+427]
    8.ColdDogSoup.. 1668 [381+400+438+449]

The averages were 1842.375 total [432.5+405.75+541.125+463.0]

The first number is the overall total for the season, followed by gw1-10 + gw11-19 + gw20-29 + gw30-38. Keeping in mind that we missed the one early gameweek when there were no games, each of the "quarters" had 9 active gameweeks, except for the third "quarter" where there were 10]. Q3 was higher scoring in part due to the extra game, while Q3 and Q4 probably had more double gameweeks.

The top 3 in Q4 were dawgs, Top Shelf, and Glorydaze (with the difference between three just 5 points), while Keysersoze bottomed out in this quarter, making it interesting for a bit re relegation until putting things away with the GW37 gold medal.

Congrats to Top Shelf for finishing at the Top in Small Rocks! I couldn't quite keep up with the Haaland train.

Hoping to see Lobo back up next year. It won't be the same without you (perhaps a little easier to breath without all that blue smoke).

That is as long as I'm not one heading down next time around!!

I was completely bailed out by Haaland this year. Felt almost like cheating, as the rest of my draft didn't turn out like I had hoped. I'm glad this is the year we decided to make this a keeper league where I now have eternal first rights to him ;)
