This was at least 20 years ago. Maybe more. I can't eat deep fried and breaded food anymore. Well, I can . . . but the food won't stay eaten.
It's weird. I can eat breaded food (chicken or eggplant parmesan, for instance) and I can eat fried food (french fries, falafel). But deep fried AND breaded (say, onion rings) . . . forget it. My wife has an adult onset pork allergy, which is weird, too. And it has bigger impact on her than my adult-onset digestion issue has on me.
You need to come down to NOLA. They know how to fry everything here, not just seafood. Best onion rings anywhere. Fried eggplant, fried artichokes, fried grease..
It is everywhere by me. Friday night fish fry is a staple, the staple (along with cheese and beer) in my neck of the woods.
That's rough for both of you. Sorry. On the other hand, not eating fried foods and pork is probably much healthier.
Deep fried turkey is amazing. Personally, I don't cook turkeys that way, as I don't have a turkey fryer, but they are delicious.

Heading to NYC for a week, and getting a question I often field from people who know I am headed that way. Are you going to shop, they ask. Shop? I can shop online. I'm going to eat.
